JL LJ

I owned a 05 LJ(stolen) and a 06 LJ(sold because it was an auto). I will buy a JLU but I really want Jeep to build a JL LJ, will it ever happen? I think it would be the perfect Jeep.

Most people probably dont even know what a lj is! Probably will never happen as the 4dr has taken over. It would be an ideal wheelbase, however.

I needed more cargo room with the family than the two door can provide, thus pushing me to the four door. If I could've gotten a little more storage space in the two door, like a long wheel base would provide, I would've jumped on that without hesitating. Though my wife would've been pissed.

So I'm pretty glad there's no JL LJ. Saved my marriage. :cwl:

As you know, the 2007+ Unlimited IS the modern version of the LJ. The LJ was an experiment to see if people would actually buy a longer wheelbase Wrangler and it was a smash hit, so they've kept building them ever since, with the addition of two more doors.

I can't think of a single reason why somebody would prefer a two door version of the Unlimited. If you must, you can just leave the two rear doors closed for the same effect.

Just buy a JLU and put the rear seats down. If you hate the rear doors you fill in the tub and get a custom soft top made. It’s been done. Look up Dynatrac’s Code 1 build.

Agreed on the wheelbase if you split the difference between the JL and JLU.

I really think they would sell more 2 doors if they made them with 3" more rear legroom and 8-10 more inches of cargo space.

I remember driving a TJ for a couple of days once. I took it to Kroger for groceries and barely got a gallon of milk behind the rear seat. Ended up laying the other bags IN the rear seat. They sure are cool vehicles, but totally impractical. Which explains why the 4 door model finally allowed Wrangler to go mainstream.

Ive had 10 or so Jeeps including a scrambler and 05 LJ and my second love, my 06 LJ Rubicon. It only has 30K miles and yes as you can tell sits in the garage most of the time. When we lived in PCB it was our beach Jeep and carried us and the gear the 1/4 from the house to the beach. Now that we are in NC it only sees weekend duty. Finally had to take the 1/2 doors off and put the full ones on along with the top. I cant wait for the new JL diesel but this one will never go....
