So Ieased a Jeep that the dealer had in stock.

2018 JLUS Granite Exterior 6speed
Options:
Package 23S $3,200
Garage Door Opener $195
Trailer Tow and HD Electrical - $795
AntiSpin Diff Rear Axle Dana 44 HD Rear Axle $595
Sirux XM $295
Premium Black Soft Top $595
Destination $1,445

Total Price $38,115

I have 800 Credit. I leased for

$418/mox36 mo ( 1st mo at signing)
Included Plates, tax,title, acquisition, etc.
18k Miles/year
Buyout about $27,800

Ill need to look to see if the MF is in the paper work. The sale price on the paper work was about $37k ( must have included acquisition).

What I do not like is that this does not seem like something worth purchasing after leasing it. if I were to purchase after leasing I would be paying $41,600-$42,000 for the jeep pre tax.

What do you guys think about the lease deal I received, and my opinion on not purchasing after leasing it.

I think it's not bad. Specifically you put only 1st monthly payment so it's basically 0 downpayment. Good job

An online calculator comes up to 0.00018 MF which is reaaaally low for a Wrangler (I've heard they're around 0.0013-0.0022). Residuals are very high for this model so a 73% seems about right. IMO you got an awesome deal if all you had to put down was $418!

Wrangler are very high in resale and often times not worth buying it off at the end of the lease. I am in the same debate whether or not I lease and buy back at the end, or just bite the bullet now and buy off the lot.

A cost of $0.279/mile after all taxes and fees are rolled in seemed very amazing as a lease offer to me.

I just don’t feel like it’s mine to modify lol, especially since I’d be stupid to buy it out after leasing .

The problem with initially buying it outright in the beginning would be “tying up my credit” and probably a payment of about $150 higher.

On the bright side, if I want the latest available Jeep in 3 years, if easily be able to switch.

I don’t understand why it’s stupid to buy it out after a lease? This was my plan going in, my JLUR is on order right now and I want to go in with all the information I could possibly be armed with

it is not "stupid". You just end up paying more in the long run than if you buy it on day one. Using his example, he'd be paying $45k at the end of 8 years (assuming you buy it using a 5 year loan after lease ends) for a $38k Wrangler. But, each scenario is unique. I can afford a lease payment of $400, and then when buying it I can afford a payment of $450, compared to a $750 payment if I buy it on day one. It's all about budget I guess

This is exactly how I look at it. It might be paying more in the long term, but if I were to buy a 3 year old rubicon in 3 years, wouldn’t my lease buyout option end up being cheaper? Hard to find a new ish rubicon that hasn’t been molested let alone one for under $40k. That’s how I see it anyway.

Yea, that was also my logic - but hard to swallow the idea of having a card payment for the next 8 years. Ouch

I just had a brilliant idea - buy it back after the lease and sell it on Craigslist within weeks. I'm sure you can make some $$ doing this, then lease another one and repeat 3 years later.

I actually considered this, seems like a good way to go. Then maybe the diesel will be available

Or actually you can do trade in your lease jlu instead return it with paying fee.
That way you can make some $ too and also it's more convenient. :)
