I assumed 72 was a 2 door and 74 was a 4 door but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe someone else can chime in.
That's a good assumption. At least it makes sense, until you see the towing capacity number at 3,500 for 72. I know that 2 dr towing is only 2,000.

Yup, also Saraha's aren't available with 2 doors.

Thanks.
Are you referring to Tire and Loading Information sticker?
That seems to indicate 850lbs which I've heard folks mention they see on other models so I'm a bit confused. I have 4 dr rubicon 3.6 v6 with steel bumpers.
What does your sticker state?
Yes that sticker, 850 lbs sounds correct for a JLUR

wow. i wasn't expecting much but for a vehicle that seats 5 that's just 170lbs per person.
guess i better lay off the sweets!

What’s left out of those JT (6500 lbs tow capacity) stats is if you get a manual trans the capacity is 4000.
However this thread was started in 2017. Maybe they didn’t have those stats then.

Posted this on another thread but thought I'd also share here:

Just had my stock JLRUD weighed on a local CAT scale. The vehicle is completely stock and fully loaded (hard top, steel bumpers, cold weather option, tow option, leather etc.). Fuel and DEF were full.

Results:

Front Axle: 2720 lbs
Rear Axle: 2420 lbs

Gross Weight: 5140 lbs

The good news is that with this weight I am 960 lbs less than the GVWR of 6100 lbls, which affords me a bit more payload than the 800 lbs I thought I was limited to.

But it seems to also indicate that the diesel weight is indeed heavier up front, in my case, 300 lbs heavier. This is counter then to the suggestions that the JLRUD weight is evenly distributed. Certainly not with my vehicle. This assumes that these scales are reliable. I'd like to repeat this at a few different CAT scale locations while the vehicle is still stock just to see if the numbers stay consistent.

I was curious about my curb weight, so I weighed my 2020 JL 2-door Sport S. Luckily there is a concrete recycler next door to where I work and they didn't mind weighing me up.

My rear seat is permanently removed from the vehicle, and in addition to me, the only things in/on the Jeep were:

- aftermarket seat covers (maybe 10 lbs all-in?)
- aftermarket saddle bags (maybe 5 lbs all-in?)
- tailgate-mounted fold-down table (20 lbs)
- Weathertech floor mats (maybe 10 lbs all-in?)
- full tank of gas (111 lbs, assuming 17.5 gal tank and S = 0.76)
- BFG KO2's instead of factory tires (adds 9 lbs per tire, so 9x5 = 45 lbs added)

So that's about 200 lbs of stuff plus me at 185 lbs, and my curb weight was an even 4,300 lbs. Given the GVWR of 5,000 lbs, it gives me a kind of skimpy 700 lb capacity to work with, which has to include my 130 lb traveling companion.

Which all goes to show one advantage of a trailer -- I could put ~1500 lbs of stuff in my trailer and stay within an overall 200 lb tongue load, and still have 700-200 = 500 lbs capacity inside the Jeep.

Deduct 130 lbs for my passenger and that means 370 lbs of capacity inside the Jeep to work with, in addition to 1500 lbs of stuff in a trailer. I think I'm good. :)

Has anyone with a JLU seen anything on their payload sticker other than 850lbs? I think Jeep is sending these vehicles out with 850lbs as the max payload regardless of what an individual vehicle's curb (empty) weight is.

If so, can you post your sticker? THanks.

Not a JL, but my daughter's 2018 Renegade 1.5 turbo. Higher payload capacity than a JL.
