Proves that the engine has nothing to do with the towing capacity on the JLU.

Right?!? That was my first thought as well. Was personally hoping for a 2019 two door Rubicon with a diesel and manual trans. Really hoping the two door will be offered with a diesel later on.

Why does the Wrangler get a 5,550 tow rating under the BUX 2.2L?

Maybe I'm behind the 8 ball after months of these threads but are we saying there will be a 2 door Sahara? I thought that wasn't in the playing cards, only sport and Rubi?

6500 lbs towing capacity is a great # for the Pickup! And I'm sure by no accident it just happens to beat the Tacoma with V6 tow package by 100 lbs :rock:

Interesting that there is only a 300 pound difference between a 2 door and 4 door Rubicon with the 3.6l

Also, what is eating up the payload capacity of the diesel version?

    4-door JLU Wrangler Rubicon (3.6L): 4390 lbs | 3500 lbs | 1235 lbs
    4-door JLU Wrangler Rubicon (3.0L diesel): 4620 lbs | 3500 lbs | 1180 lbs

Looks like FCA delivered on their promise to lighten the Wrangler at least. Assuming these weight figures are for automatic models it looks like about 50-150 pounds weight savings over the JK. Not a ton but every little bit helps with MPG.

Diesel engines are heavy, plus they have a def tank, dpf, scr, etc... That would be my guess

So the 2dr tow rating is increased to the same rating as the 4dr??? And no increase for the 4dr. That really pisses me off!

The diesel engine itself is eating up payload.

Anybody else not impressed with the weight reduction on these? I think even for the lightest model, the 2-door Sport is still quite heavy. I was expecting somewhere in between 3,000 to 3,500 lbs. I did a quick Google with the JK and it seems not very much was done to weight.
