Has anyone tried a drywall lift to remove and store their hardtop? My JL is on order, but would like to have something ready in order to remove the top. The specs on the lift has a 150 lb capacity which is more than enough for the top.

Best answer- I love the Racor lift / Topsy combination. I’ve had 2 other Jeeps with hardtops and never really found anything within a budget that worked. For under $250- you get a great option that’s useful for other things when you have to the hardtop on.

I’ll post some pics removing the top this weekend. But for the price- great choice.

I bought two ratchet straps for a total of $20. Will be more difficult getting it back on (will need help), but I only remove it once in the summer to put the soft top on and put the hard top back on late fall/winter.

Thanks for the recommendation! This is the first that I have seen the Racor lift in any of the recommendations that I have researched. I will order one today so I am ready.

Here’s a pic of the top with the ratchet straps.

Thanks for the recommendation... Depending on the weight limit for the Racor lift, I sure could use it for other items that we have laying around.

Installed a Harken hoist for my top - works great. It's some work to install and the cost plus the lumber runs ~$200.

I built one with a harbor freight boat winch. But decided I didn't like it hanging in my way, it was too low for me. So i just built a cart to put it on. I have plenty of room for it and only going to take it off a couple times a year. Since I got the premium soft top.

Thanks for the suggestion. Looking for ease of operation as I will not be able to leave it off all summer. Will be on and off due to weather.

The Racor has a 250lbs limit. I would only trust that if it is properly bolted in. I’ve tested mine to 150lbs with no issues.

Good to know. Thanks for the reply. According to the dealership where I have the Wrangler on order, the top weighs around 120 lbs.

Yup- it’s more than strong enough. But get the Topsy brackets so you don’t have to raise the rear glass to secure the back.
