They do slow thieves down and also may encourage thieves to move on to a softer target.
To a very small degree. Jeeps with off road wheels and tires are high value targets. Thieves will make the incrementally higher effort to lift those. One locking wheel nut per wheel is pretty insignificant protection.

Yes, l have done similar. Does take time to do and noise is generated.

I myself use wheel lock systems, where by every lugnut is splined. So, thief has to remove... fruck with 5 wheel locks per wheel. He/she will at least have to work for my wheels.
Yeah I use them also and will continue to. Like I said they keep honest people honest. No lock is 100% and anyone that wants to get past it can but why when the Jeep parked next to mine hasn't got a lock to deal with and will be quicker

I agree - that has value. Not so much for the $15 set of locking lug nuts that dealers throw on, and sometimes charge as much as $100.
Reality is if they want your wheels they will undoubtedly get them. Discourage them and make it harder for them.

At the least your insurance carrier will take note that you did what you could to protect your interest and their's. Like the reason you have a lock on your home's door...

@warc1

I will admit that the Mopar wheel lock is poor at best and ugly looking.

The Mopar wheel lock, looks like a huge swollen thumb that is just begging for a big /oversized set of vice grips to be locked onto it.

I wouldn't stop anybody from spending the $15 if they truly believe it adds protection. I just don't believe that it does, and apparently, neither does my insurance carrier. They make no distinction in rates or coverage based on locking wheel nuts.

My Corvette dealer stopped leaving their high end models on the lot because they were regularly getting their wheels stolen with locks in place. GM didn't subsequently take them off of the $100,000 Z06 to save $15. They did it because they were ineffective.

No sense beating this to death. We have both spewed enough on wheel lock efficacy. To each his own.

I'm kind of biased as I have been in Law Enforcement and Corrections in the past. I am a believer in security, plain and simple.

Jeep Wrangler JL JL Delivery Checklist 719F3F56-7F6F-481E-A71B-860A96221F9F
Figured it may be a good idea to isolate a single thread to find information on what should be coming with your new JL, as I’m sure some folks have gotten shafted already and not received all the little extras upon delivery. Not everyone knows that info, so here’s what I have gathered thus far (feel free to chime in and I’ll edit if I’m missing items):

1. Two sets of keys
2. Jeep mini ratchet set/Torx (for hardtop/windshield/doors)
3. Lugnut key (for spare)
4. Freedom top storage bag (if equipped)
5. Carpet floor mats standard (but not if all season mats are equipped)
6. JL Wrangler Owners Manual/Warranty guide (may just be in your Jeep’s infotainment system only). Not 100%, but can be printed if requested directly through Jeep.
7. Jeep hitch receiver rubber insert (if trailer towing group is equipped)
8. Towing Pkg only: small baggie with tubing and splices.
9. Rubicon only: MOPAR Black Fuel Filler Door
10. Cold Weather Group option, you need to be sure you get the removable cord that is part of the block heater kit (and look under your hood for it if not in a separate bag)
11. Rear Cargo cubby rubber mat (on 4 door)
12. Rubber mats inside your center console
13. Velcro straps if you have a sun rider top

Also, ensure you get registered for the “Jeep Wave Program” because your new JL will receive complimentary maintainence for a period of time.

CONFIRMED NOT INCLUDED:
Windshield tie downs

What am I missing?
Add the drain plugs for the all weather floor mats. This is probably a dealer omission. I will be emailing on Monday about this.

Agreed. Back to lamenting my 3 month and counting wait to get a 2dr JLR.

The plugs don’t come on the mats. They come under the carpet with the Jeep. You must find the pre-cut portion and complete the cut in the carpet, and it’ll be under there. Transfers to the mats.

Really? Didn’t know that. Thank you. If they are under the carpet and I remove them does that just open a hole in the bottom of the footwell to the outside?

Yes! That's where the water is going to drain to in regard to the cutesy drain system the mat affords.

That’s what I figured. Not doing that. Had no carpet in my ‘89 YJ in Hawaii, good for sand and rain to drain out, and when washing it, but I won’t be doing that on the JL. Thanks.

It might be useful here to not simply include what to expect from the dealer, but what to bring to it: and I don't necessary mean the obvious stuff like your driver's license or dealership check.

Case in point, I am strongly considering bringing a magnifying glass...you heard right...to check welds for rust, paint and/or porosity.

Different thread, different topic. This thread is designed for items to be included with your Jeep. The other stuff, I.e, inspecting your vehicle, is up to each owner and is common sense IMO.

Another thread: fair enough.

But obvious to bring a means to closely examine welds to the Wrangler dealer prior to new purchase: hardly common sense, but rather, ideas conjured up from posts here on said welds at times being, at point of new purchase, rusted, unpainted, and/or porous.
