So I have some Rigid Industries D Series Pro pod lights to install. I'm having a hard time finding what guage wiring the factory harness uses.. I read somewhere it's 14 gauge but the pod lights have 18 guage wires and they are larger than the 15 amp wires on the jeeps harness. So they can't be 14 guage if they are smaller than the 18 guage wires on the lights. Can anyone confirm what guage wires the 15 amp wires are on the factory aux switch harness? I figured the jeeps harness would be larger wires than the pod lights harness but that's not the case.. trying to make sure I'm using the correct butt connector

Are you looking at the actual copper wire to determine the gauge? Or the insulation? I don’t have factory aux switches on mine, but considering the intended usage, I can’t imagine they’d be any smaller than 14ga.

If you’re really that concerned, just install a relay and be done with it.

Well I'm looking at both with insulation.. but the one that is 18 guage is larger than the one that's 14 guage.. so if that's true the insulation on the 18 guage must be super thick

I have Raxiom lights and ARB compressor wired to mine and have no problems. The owner's manual has them listed.

Just solder them properly instead of using a butt connector?
