So I traded in my 14 Sahara for a JLUR and my DC matrix wheels wouldn't fit. Said the lugs are to small or whatever. Has anyone run into a similar situation ? And how or what do I do to fit the wheels?

This is correct. The lug pattern is the same but the JL lugs are slightly larger diameter. The JL lugs are 14mm vs 1/2. If the wheels won’t physically fit because the lug holes are too small, I suppose the holes could be drilled or honed to fit 14mm lugs.

But theoretically wouldn't the jlur lugs fit the new wheels? Not sure why they wouldn't fit...

The only reason they would not fit is because the wheels from your JK have holes designed for 1/2” lugs. The JL has 14mm lugs which are very slightly larger than 1/2”. It’s possible the holes in your DC wheels are too small for 14mm lugs so they would need to be enlarged.

Another reason might be the hub clearance but I don’t think that changed.

Another reason would be if the wheel does not clear the brakes. This might only be a problem with wheels 16” or smaller.

Lug nuts can' be switched from jk to JL. Wheel are supposed to work from jk to JL. They sell the same wheels for a jk and jl.
