The desert boss package is mainly appearance. The only functional 4x4 feature it would add are bead locks and the base rubi x doesn’t have them. You need to add the auto trans, but then the price of the rubi is just shy of $70k.
Base Rubicon is only $50k. You specified Rubicon X which means it's more comparable to the desert boss. Adding the X package automatically adds the auto trans, and its $60k with the v6 or $58k with the 2.0t. Yes you can option it out to $70k but you can do the same on the zr2.

One of the problem is bundling junk with common options.

What does better speakers have to do with ? navigation, or XM radio, or auto dimming mirrors, all I want is better speakers, but I'm forced to pay an extra $1,500 for junk I don't want.

Why do I need both full doors and half doors?

Then the expensive huge screen comes standard.

There is a fair bit of useless junk that comes standard, personally I can do without carpet, it just gets dirty with regular use, they make hosing down the insides a talking point, but you can't without making the carpet stank.

I ended up buying a used Sahara last week partially because the new ones are so expensive. I paid $39k (which is high) for something that would have cost $60k new. For approximately the same price new I could have only gotten a Sport S with a few options.

jeeps are spendy these days!!!

Is a Rubicon something you want to have, or need to have?

if you need a Wrangler, there are more affordable options than a Rubicon.

<sarcasm>I really can't understand why everything's gotten so expensive lately!</sarcasm>

What's interesting to me is that part of the reason the top models are so expensive is that they are bundling the most off-road capable components with luxury features. What are they trying to be? The best off-road vehicle, or a luxury SUV?

Seems diametrically opposed ...

I don’t know what configuration tool you’re using but the one I’m using has the default trans for a rubi x as 6 speed manual.

Not in the 4 door, 35s only available with the auto. The 2 door X didn't get 35s and can be ordered with the manual. On the jeep.com configuration tool you'll find as soon as you select the X package it will change the trans automatically.

I am looking at the 4 door. The x is not a package, it’s a model. The 35” tires are part of the auto trans package for the x.

Getting? Dude with the lease issues post 76k dollars for Wrangler 4xe.

Look at the price of the JT. MSRP it is the most expensive "midsize" pickup that I know of. 66k for a Mojave, far more than say Tacoma TRD Pro or ZR2 Colorado or the Ranger Raptor? Not sure on Raptor.
You can find some sweet Mojaves or Rubis at a steep discount still in some places at least. Not seeing that with the JL which is a bummer.

And that package is $60k as shown, same as the zr2? It Is not $70k? I think the configuration tool is screwed up as the 35s are part of the X model on 4 doors in the order book. I don't think you can order a 4 door X without them.

this is true. A sport s includes a bunch of safety stuff (forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, gorilla glass) and just to add heated seats it’s a $2000 option because it’s bundled as part of the convenience package.

I really just wanted power door locks, power windows and heated seats. In order to do that it’s $6k over the price of the base sport because it comes with a whole slew of options I don’t really want.

the bundling of options is really juicing up the price.

You have to pay for superiority. If I was running the Jeep brand, I'd make it $80K for the average price of a Jeep Wrangler. People want the best and are willing to pay for it.
That’s why sales are slumping. Nailed it!

Nice truck, but that is because no one will buy them so they are 10k off. Zr2 is a lot more truck also.

Yep awesome deals, mainly because they are stacking up on lots. Some here are 10k off but still too expensive to me. 52 to 60k with 10k off, WAY over priced.
