I see in your one pic that you are in 4W-LO (yeah, I've got a Jeep porn problem to look that closely... lol). Do you do most of the harder trails in LO?
I have a Sahara with Rubi rims/tires and a 2.5" RC spacer lift (actually a 2" lift, .5" part is to take rake out of front end). How do you think it would do? I don't have LSD or sway bar disconnect BUT I am thinking of getting sway bar disconnect links or taking out the ratchet and disconnecting them. Also, do you have sway bar disconnect on front only?

It's a judgement call on all trails and obstacles on whether or not to use 4L. At MOAB, I switched a lot between all XFR Case selections. Climbs/decents and rock sections, 4L for sure. You don't want the Jeep to work hard to get over anything. Rock crawling in 4H is a quick way to damage your transmission or burn up a clutch.

Your Sahara would do alright on all those trails. You would need to take the bypass on most of the harder obstacles, especially without the limited slip or you risk getting yourself in a tough position. I wouldn't go alone without lockers and a winch. You will certainly come across certain spots where you're at a high risk of not making it.

The Rubicon only has a front disconnect switch. I don't disconnect the rear bar.

We did Uwharie National Forest in Try, NC on Saturday. You have got to go if you've never gone, it was killer!!! My wife drove the Jeep more than me!!! (it's hers btw).
We had a blast and got ourselves out of some tricky spots, so we learned a lot and boosted our confidence. We plan on running this weekend as well as long as we don't get more rain this week. It's clay soil and gets pretty slick and it clings to the underside. Let me know if you ever go out and maybe we could hit the trail together.

I've been to Uwharrie a couple dozen times and have enjoyed it each time I've went. It's a small place, but can be challenging, especially when it's slick out. I'd go and take the KTM to ride the trails with you. I won't be available for a few weeks though. I'm sure we'll all stay in touch and coordinate a local trip eventually. It would be nice to get a couple good trips in before the end of the year.

Great talking to you on the phone, Mike. I'm excited for you and your wife to take this trip. You'll have the time of your life; bucket list type stuff. You're welcome to call or text anytime and my offer to go with you next year will always be there.

Maybe... with this amount of time between now and next July, you can get even more NC Jeepers out to Ouray and Moab.

Thanks!

We did it! We got our first Badge of Honor from Jeep. Thanks so much for telling us about this program. We ran Dickey Bell this weekend, wow... it's easy to see what that gets a badge! We had to take the bypass on the boulder field, there is no way a 2" lift with 33's can do that. Honestly I don't know how anything that is not HEAVILY modified could do it. We didn't know which way was which so we wound up on the rail where we headed down that section.
Winch and bumper will be here this week and we want to run the trail from the other direction as well. Fair amount of spots where I needed to go out and spot.
We are also talking about getting a locker installed on the rear.

Did you login for your badges on the Moab trails you ran?

Nice! You're very welcome. My goal is to hit every badge trail while I'm out on that side of the country. I'm heading to Southern California to do the 4 out there on Thursday before parking the Jeep in Phoenix for another month.

That rock garden looks more intimidating that it really is. If you take it slow, there are a few lines you'll find that will take you through there with minor scraping. I wouldn't try it alone or without a winch, of course. A rear locker would be a great addition to your rig, for sure.

Thanks for picture. Jeep is looking awesome out there!

Cool, can't wait to see what you fender looks like with all those badges.

Forgot to mention we took a hard hit on the cross bar, put a nasty ding in it. Were that bar not there we would have pierced the exhaust pipe. Where it hit the bar is right where the exhaust pipe has a rectangular indent and goes over the bar. Whew... that was close.

BTW... we hit that MASSIVE water hole by the Falls Dam parking/camping area. The wife decided to plow through it not realizing how deep it was. The bow wake she created actually hit the bottom of the headlights :/
That got me thinking...

We can ford up to 30" and that puts you at the lower hinge on a stock height Jeep. That means the underside of your floorboards are covered with water. Guess where the rear axle vent's breather end attaches? Yep the underside of the floorboard. Is it tucked up high enough to avoid being submerged... nope is my guess. What happens if it gets submerged? Is it a check valve that only allows breathing out and nothing in?

I see you answered my question in the other thread, thanks :)
No worries. I didn't realize that was you until after I responded. Lol. I'm very interested in the water fording information. There's something awesome about moving water, which you'll see a lot of on the Colorado trails. Creek crossing is one of my favorite things to do in a Jeep. I never go too deep though. If I need a snorkel...I'll go around. Lol.

It's also a great way to clean all the mud off! LOL.

My wife has a fondness for GUNNING it on any puddle we hit on the trail. She hit one so hard that the spray came up over the top and dumped on us because we had the panels out.... ughhh.

That's awesome! I made the same mistake with the windshield down. I know better, but the brain was more focused on playing in the river.
