If you want tall, but skinny is ok with you, the Falken Wildpeak AT3W is available in a 255/80R17 which is 33.1" in diameter.

But your cheapest avenue is Rubicon takeoffs.

According to most forum posts, you don't need to lift to run 285/70R17's. Most people report no rubbing. I cant speak to that though.

Great link,thanks!

Actually width and stance are more important, that is why I am considering 265/70/17s.

The Falkens are a heavy tire, I will most likely go with BFG KO2s in a C Load Rating.

if you mean by heavy they are only 1-2 pounds heavier its not much in the long run. at3w C rated is 53 Ko2 is 51.5

Do you have a pic from the front or rear so I can see how far they stick out from the fenders?

I thought they were 58, 53 is not too bad

My vote would be for the 285’s. Here is a pic if it helps. I have had no issue with rubbing at all. Mpg went from around 24 to 21 though. Jeep envy is a serious thing (just now finding this out since this is my first Jeep). Lift and 35’s going on Monday due to spending too much time on this site .

Another concern, 265/70/17s on a 8.5 inch rim...

I don't want it to look stretched.

From researching, it looks like 265s work on a 7 to 8.5" rim.
285s definitely do.

285/70/17 - I couldn’t notice any difference in power or mileage (maybe 1mpg) and the ride is actually better on the load range C 17” tires than the stock p rated 18”. I think the 285’s will look much better with virtually zero sacrifice [GALLERY=] [/GALLERY]

I am sure the 285s will look better.
My Rubicon came stock with 285s and I swapped them out for 35x12.5s.
I just love the way it drives now, it is so peppy and nimble around town and I would hate to lose 8th gear on the highway.
When I did my 35s on my Rubicon it sucked on the highway even after my recalibration, it never used 8th gear.
My bet is when all is said and done I will do Fuel Anzas in Bronze 17x8.5 with 285/70/17 BFG KO2s.

285/65/18 Toyo Open Country A/T on Sahara take-off rims with spacers on my 2019 Sport 2.0T, no lift. I love the look and suggest not going any smaller. This was done at the dealer at time of sale, so can't comment on before vs after dynamics, but we love her and she handles great (relatively speaking). Probably lost a couple MPG's, but she still gets 19-20 hand calculated.

That looks great!
I think I will go 285s, I could always go to 265s and sell my 285s if I don't like it, but I am sure I will.
Much easier to sell 285s to Jeep guys.

OK, +6mm offset or -6mm, I am leaning towards -6?
