Here's the Granite 2018 Jeep Wrangler JLU Sahara with Power Sliding Soft Top revealed at the LA Auto Show.

For those who’d rather not fuss with manually removing freedom top panels and hard tops (and store them) but want to experience open-air driving at the touch of a button, the Power Top is your solution. As our videos below show, with the touch of a button in the overhead console, the soft roof top slides back to expose the entire top of the passenger cabin (front and rear). The sliding top can be stopped in any position along the way.

For an even more open-air experience, the side window panels also remove easily by simply operating four handles (two for each panel). Unfortunately the rear window is not designed to be removed. But, the doors certainly are, so with the PowerTop you can still have a nearly completely open experience (except the rear window).

And if having the PowerTop frame structure and rear window in place is still too not open enough for you, we’ve learned from Jeep that the entire top is fully removable, although Jeep recommends that it stay installed because the sliding rails could be difficult to line up upon reinstallation.

Anyways, enough words, check out the PowerTop in action below!

Jay, any information on whether or not this top is fully removable? I can see the bolts on the interior photos but those might just be for the rear panel removal.

Without a hoist, I doubt I'd want to try and remove that top. With the cargo area window removal, you've really got zilch for any kind of support - you've got the rear (D?) pillars, and that's it. I have no idea how you'd safely store that without a winch.

I had the build-your-own JKU hard top storage dolly, and still worried about storing that thing vertically - and that was with windows and more framing supporting it.

Another shot of the power sliding top with window panel removed, as well as the Sahara rear axle. And video demonstrating the window panel removal.

Is there a drain plug in this under floor storage? In case I needed to put ice in there for some reason.

You may already have seen our FAQ / Q&A, but Jeep confirmed to us that the power top is fully removable, but Jeep recommends it stay installed.

Let's talk about the convertible top.

First Q, does the rear glass pop out easily like the rear quarters?

EDIT: can admin fix the spelling mistake in the title?

If you’re referring to the soft top, yes the back slides out easily.

It doesn’t come off at all unfortunately. I wish it did
Well it does actually come off...when you remove the whole top with it ;)
But referring to what the OP means, schmeegz is correct.

It does not come off, cant have it all but would be cool on a 2 door hard top to take off doors and rear window on a nice weekend (in that time frame you dont wanna take top off completely yet.)

Seems like on the freeway the back widow is fighting you, but have not tried it
