You know, of course, that Jeep has sold nearly a quarter of a million JL Wranglers since they were launched, right? I think the 55k number you arrived at is just combining Jan/Feb numbers from this year and last.;)
Yup you're right! I was looking at the 2018 CYTD thinking it was for the whole year not just Jan/Feb. I feel less lonely now I know there's 270K +/- JL owners out there. Also, it's 2019 projected that there are 227 plus million licensed drivers out of the 330 Million people. I'm still lucky to be a part of the few. :handsinair: Thanks for the correction :fingerscrossed:

I hope someday soon I'll be as lucky myself...none of the dealers want to get back to me...:headbang:

Exactly, that's a a mix of both. With JK accounting for approximately 40% of 2018. Can't say JL has already sold 250,000

Not to actually start an argument over that, but order banks opened for MY18 JKs on August 10th of 2017. The JK averaged around 180k per year, that 132k amounts to roughly 75% of an average year, or 9 months, right in line with the JK's final year numbers. Factoring that MY18 only lasted 9-ish months (August to April) and being generous for a final model year, those 5-ish months on 2017 would account for more than half of the MY18 JK sales, or 73,000 units (leaving 59,000 units left for CY19). So, extrapolating further, one could deduce that of the 240,000 Wranglers sold in CY19, 181,000 were JLs, plus the 28,000 sold this year, would be well over 200,000 JL units. So, if I had said "More than a fifth of a million JLs have been sold" instead of "Nearly a quarter of a million JLs have been sold", you'd be more comfortable? I'm always up for some antics, or semantics, which ever you prefer...:punch:

Orders don't count as sales though, deliveries do. 2018 JK production didn't start until October 2, 2017. So only 2.5 months of potential '18 JK sales in 2017, not 4.5 months. (While also still selling 2017's)

Based on production vs sales of previous years, selling 75% of the model year in the calendar year is fairly consistent. So we can realistically estimate that 74,000 JK's were sold in calendar year 2018, with 166,000 JL's. Yes, with 2019's 28k sales added in they are almost but not quite to 200k yet. :)

If sold orders don't count towards sales, only deliveries, then how do you account for the 80 Gladiators listed?

Early units maybe to vendors/tuners/other divisions, etc... they aren't on sale to the public yet. Orders don't count though, only delivered vehicles.

Sold orders have never counted towards reported sales numbers. Gladiator order bank is not even open yet.

FCA's sales numbers include both retail & fleet. They have to be fleet deliveries, my guess is press fleets.

Something else to consider, Im pretty sure these sales numbers are for sales in the USA only. Meaning, it wasn't actually 132k JKs but 99k.

I’m in St. Louis, so probably too far unless they have incredible deals.
