Jeep Wave Tire Rotation

I had my Jeep in for service yesterday and they performed the Jeep Wave tire rotation. Got home and notice they did not rotate the spare in. Looking t my service invoice I see “Rotate 4 tires, Adding in spare tire is an additional charge of 15.00”.

Is this normal for the Jeep Wave program?

My dealer rotated all 5 for me for free.

Most dealers will only rotate 4 unless you ask for a five tire rotation. A dealer that has a large Wrangler clientele will probably just instinctively rotate all 5. I always make sure to ask for a 5 tire rotation.

Mine did the same but I didn't notice if they charged for the 5th tire. I just rotated it in myself and going forward I'll do my own rotation.

Take it back and have them do it over. They rotated all five for me also.

Mine did a 5 tire rotation under Jeep Wave. I don't know if they would have done it on their own because when I scheduled my appointment online I put something like "complimentary Jeep Wave full synthetic and 5 tire rotation" in the notes since their online system automatically added an estimated total for the oil change and tire rotation.

They added 5 quarts without me telling them anything rather than 6 like some dealerships insist on, so I would imagine that they know to rotate all 5 tires as well.

I’m going to mark my tires with chalk like this:
“REAR PAS, to FRONT PAS”
or
“FR PAS to REAR DRIVER”
or
“SPARE to REAR PAS”
or
“FRONT DRIVER to SPARE”
etc.

Hopefully they get it right.

Oh, by the way- can we just use the rotation and not the oil change? I don’t want them touching that.

I've had two dealer oil changes and rotations and they refuse to rotate all 5.

If you don’t specify how they are to rotate the tires you’ll be surprised. They are used to straight front to rear often. I draw a diagram on the service paper and mark the wheels with dots from a sharpie and even then I’ve had them screw it up.

Old school radial knowledge was to always keep the tires spinning in the same direction to avoid belt shifting. Today many high performance tires are directional so they also don't cross sides in rotation.
Obviously this isn't the case with the Jeep, but I can see the reason for confusion or general policy at the service dept.

Some folks don’t rotate in full size spares. If you don’t change tire size and don’t need could last two sets of tires and save when purchasing new.

Good point! Not having a full size spare in many years I hadn't considered that! Hmmmmm.
