View attachment 114714 My manual Jeep sport is 46 hours old with 83 miles. I was driving down the road and the battery light and the ess light came on with a message to pull the Jeep over it’s going to shut down. I believe it said in 29 seconds. I did pull over, the Jeep did shut off automatically and I was unable to start it up again. Stranded on day 2. Towed to dealer awaiting word. The only thing I did do 4 minutes prior to the shutdown was I tried pushing the ess off button for the first time to test how it works. My Jeep does have the upgraded battery and alternator as well. I did try seating all the fuses and relays as well but that made no difference. Also the Jeep did not throw a code. Any ideas?

Off topic but your wheel and tire combo look great.

@jeepinoutwest

Your JL was not transported properly!

You might want to read the manual..... what you allowed in regard to towing your JL, could have or might have done damage to your JL.

Well I hate getting towed ever. I grilled the tow guy about the best method but he assured me, which is worth zero.

The wheels are vision turbines wrapped in 285/70/17 cooper stt pros.

So far I’ve heard nothing.

Well that's Jeep roadside assistance that towed it! So they are totally responsible! But yes, thank you, I'll take your advice none the less.

Investigate ess relay, had a nut that was crossthreaded on mine. Had it towed several times.
Great guys at stetler dodge in york,pa found it and isolated it!!!
Also every one of my fuses were loose and several wires leaving the pdb power distribution block. Let us know

Update: Day 10 at the dealer. They thought they had it figured out once but they did not. The jeep will still not start. This is depressing.

Thanks Rusty Teeth, I'll check into this. Any chance you can post a picture of where this is located?

If u look at my other posts me and others have very detailed pix. Ess relay is behind right front tire under the second battery, yes there are 2
Call stetler dodge in york pa. They reached under the plastic wheel well cover, wiggled it and it started and they drove it off the flat bed it was towed there with.

Make sure you charge both batteries overnight. Or it may not start again. Under
The fuse box lid has all distribution points labeled.

There are also pix on my other posts showing all this

So here's the result on day 13 of out of service the dealer called and told me it was a loose ground wire for the PCM which is located just below the driver's side headlight. Its now allegedly fixed.

So I have had my Jeep back for 21 days now and 630 miles later I have not had any issues whatsoever with the running of my Jeep. I've discovered that my freedom top leaks between the 2 panels so I'll have to devise a fix for that. Also this is my first manual transmission of dozens I've owned where the transmission requires the clutch to be completely depressed for the entire duration of the gear change. I think the clutch may be grabbing too low, but I'm in the beginning stages of researching this new issue. Hopefully its just a cable adjustment.

I'd bet it needs adjusted. Most say they disengage very quickly upon depressing the pedal, which is what mine does. Glad you have it back and the original problem sorted out!
