I tried to purchase a gas 2 0 l auto. And they stopped taking those orders. 4 days later they said they were back on but they switched it to the V6 auto and added a $4500 increase I’m not sure if they’re going back later on to the 2.0L auto in the gas, but they seem to be saving them for the 4xe

Having the peppy 2.0L with eTorque on my 2019 Rubicon and having the 3.6 on my JK I just couldn't order the V6 (I'd probably have thought hard on the etorque V6) and take the risk of not liking it as much. These are just too expensive now. Without direction from Jeep or a timeline on the 2.0L, I ordered another vehicle all together. I do have some small things I am looking forward to changing with my Rubi which I love and am keeping but this sole play by Jeep lost at least 1 sale. A lot could happen between now and the other vehicle being built and delivered, strikes, dealerships doing whatever and so on but as of now, docs are in writing and deposit is paid. Keeping on eye on the '24 just in case though as a back up now.

I hope that whatever people have built, they love it and get it quick!

Worst thing with the 2.0L is it sounds like a tractor and it's significantly harder to work on compared to the 3.6l if and when it needs repairs down the line. Luckily they've been pretty reliable across the fleet but it's something to keep in mind

I agree on the sound. Fortunately I have other toys that are built for the race track I put around 12,000 miles on a year when I want that experience.

I have over 62,000 miles on mine and the engine has been good to go so far. The other gotcha for me is I am not sure how much of a difference the non torque 2.0L is compared to what I have. I am at sea level and it may be a lot closer between 2.0L and V6 than I expect as the biggest complaint I see on the 2.0L is turbo lag. I wonder if I don't experience that due to the etorque. I've ran boosted cars for decades and have not had any issues in my Rubicon with any lag. In fact my daily was my AMG before my Jeep got was built. I do appreciate that peppiness for major city driving!

This entire process is all new to me so please bear with me, but this is my situation: on 7/27 I ordered a Sahara (2.0 obviously since that was the only option). On 7/28 I received my VIN. I’ve learned from reading this forum that that means I went to D (firm schedule). On 8/11 I got the 4AK code which means I regressed from D to C? I’ve had no movement since then. Now I’m learning that once a VIN is issued that the engine cannot be changed? That’s fine, I wanted the 2.0, however does this mean that my vehicle will not be built or there will be major delays if the 2.0’s are only being allocated to the 4XE’s. I should also note that mine is in Bikini Pearl which I believe will only be in production for a limited time. I know no one really knows a definitive answer but I basically am just wondering if I actually will ever receive this thing.

Other people on the forum have been saying the Bikini's are going to be built in bulk September/October, not sure if thats true but its what I've seen.

I’m worried as well. I went into D status on July 5th, got the 4AK code and haven’t seen any movement. I know it’s still early, but I just want to see D1 here soon. White Sahara | SOT | safety group | Trailer tow group | Tech group | McKinley power seats

New to the forum. Current owner of a 2012 JKUR with the 3.6 and 161,400 miles. Have been looking into ordering a new 2024 JLUR Xtreme and came across this engine selection issue today at multiple dealers. Most dealers around me only have 4XE's or sports. I'm looking to order a Rubicon and was told they are unable to order the 2.0 and can only place orders with a 3.6 right now. All dealers said they were unsure how long this would last but expect it to be this way for a bit due to the way production now works. One dealer actually made contact with their contact at Jeep and they said 3.6 will be on the line 'for the time being'...so who knows.

So now I either have to buy what I can find with the 2.0 in it or order a 3.6. I don't live at elevation so the 3.6 is fine. My few gripes with it is it's not efficient, it has some design flaws, the damn cam and rocker failure issue seems high still all these revisions and years later and on top of it they want $4500 more for his option. Just doesn't seem right.

I hear ya, it pushed me to the 4xE, so yes they won. I however am loving the EV part of the Jeep. I live close to everything and my tank is still full from the dealers fill up and it's been 2 + weeks.

Honest question, how much has your electric bill increased and how often are you having to charge it?

Good morning! I was wondering if anyone has heard anything further about when or if orders for the 2.0L engines will reopen. I'm tracking the potential impact of a strike, obviously.

Thanks!

Personally my 2021 literally doubled my electric bill. I only charged it at home. Unless you're getting free electricity in most parts of the country you're not saving much if any money by charging it.

In August when this first happened, our regional supply manager said to not expect it 2.0L gas to be available to order until at least December. I would have to imagine this 30+ day strike is going to push that target back, potentially over the cliff.

I am in the same boat... I'm ready to place an order for a Willys but I want the 2.0L engine. Its very disappointing that you cannot place the order and be placed in a queue. The fact that the builder on Jeeps website doesn't accurately show what you can and cannot order irks me a little too. Seems like reaching out to a dealer or checking this forum for similar posts is the only way to find out..

I’ve spoken with multiple dealers and all of them are equally clueless. Tried speaking with Jeep Care and they knew less than the dealers.

This forum has provided more answers than the others combined and for that I am grateful.

Appears to me the dealers just want the easy sale without having to do any legwork.
