Now that you brought up an interesting topic, worthy derailing this worthless thread..... Straight Razor Shaving is a Lost Art, slowly regaining popularity. I have been Straight shaving for approx 4-5 yrs. I tried it in the early 80's but my techiques, and stropping skills weren't there. Also, there wasnt an internet, or anyone around to teach me either.
I now buy, restore, shave with, and sharpen razors as old as mid 1700's. Most are mid 1800-1940's.
The hardest part is learning how to properly hone the razors.
That’s a fascinating hobby! Sharpening and stropping is the secret to a beautiful shave. My father’s words of wisdom was simple: you’re not a man until you can shave with a straight razor! Just think of the snow flakes today hearing that remark!:giggle:

Strop with a quality razor double belt and never let it slip sideways during your shave.

After my first shave I looked like chopped beef and blew right thru all of the J&J junior strips!

Thanks for sharing!

So if someone's intentional speech is threatening not only your personal property but also your physical safety, what do you feel is an appropriate response? And how is my response (espoused in my explanation) different from your own?

In light of your answers to the above what exactly from my rebuttal was horseshit?

Thanks in advance for answering the questions and for the civilized response above.
You’re welcome, but I‘m moving on to a much more valuable thread. Strictly my opinion...one of the most worthless threads ever on this forum.

Might try this with a Kalamzoo 1x42....

https://mechusa.square.site/

You probably also need a Edge-On-Up...the PT50B model is plenty if you're looking to get a usable number from the BESS edge sharpness scale for comparison to sharpness standards world wide.
That would work for knives, but not at all for Straight Razors. Different angles, stones, and techniques. On a scale of 1-10 in difficulty, knives are about a 5. Straights are a 10. Many many variables.

You need to give it another go. There are many of us out there who can guide you in the right direction.

Well, 2 actually, but the other got pulled apparently.

That's probably my fault. I reported the post and asked if they could trace an IP address. Told the mod/admin I don't need to know who it is, but they probably should since it's likely it is a user who was making a fake account to troll my posts.

I wouldn't have advocated banning him though....attributing the posts to the other user account (if they could trace it) would have been the way I'd have handled it. If they couldn't trace it, then closing the account would likely be the only other choice. Not my call though....as I'm not the owner.

Whatever....I'm guessing the guilty party won't fess up. ;)
Meh, I would've been fine with letting him hang himself for all to see. ;)

By the way, my old razor was a Dovo with a half hollow grind. My brother and I were responsible for sharpening our own razors and was a pain in the ass learning how to hone and strop. But you know what it feels like if it’s dull...ouch, OMG, oh shit, etc. That is where I quickly learned that with the correct effort applied....results are rewarding!

@aldo98229 Just look at what you started! I can't wait to see what your next thread topic is going to be...
Hopefully it's something that leads to me being able to dust off my Thunderdome references. "Two man enter, one man leaves" muahaha!

I wish I could walk away. But, this thread might actually morph into some adult topic, that might be interesting.
Btw, I don't get the hose, tazer, Ken Karen, and rubber bullet reference. Please explain. Maybe this thread could turn even more interesting.

Letsssss gettttt readyyyyy toooooo rumblllllllle. Kind of looses a little, when you type it out.

Ironically, half the time we get lectured by Rubicon owners who never even take their Jeeps off-road. I try not to be oversensitive to it, but it is just weird.

Do Sport owners get this too?
I personally don't give a flying **** what other people think about my Wrangler (Sport S) I love it, love driving it, love looking at it. If someone else doesn't think it's "whatever" enough for them, **** 'em!

And I considered that. Figured he'd probably reply, but the mod/admin must've been on it really fast.
I was just tossing you the same response you gave me, when I got the last nitwit deported. At least my troll lasted 2.5 years of Jeep window shopping. Hahaha!
