I’m starting a 3,000 mile road trip in 36 hours. Of course the ESS battery starts acting up AGAIN.

Just called my nearest service center and asked if I could drop it off all day with them tomorrow to have it looked at. I was told their diagnostic machine will only generate warranty replacement codes Monday through Friday.

That’s so stupid that if it were anyone other than Jeep, I wouldn’t believe it.

Tell them "Replace the battery today, and run the paperwork on Monday then. Quit being so daft."

How long has it been since you changed the ESS battery last?

You like paying for parts that are under warranty?

Mine’s a 2020 and it was replaced the first time in 2021.
I would rather spend $100 than delay a trip. Don't have to like it.

but, are you sure that's the problem?

Its not just the money, it’s the time.

Not positive it’s the issue, but the symptoms are identical to the last time it went bad.

It kind of sounds like they didn’t fix anything. Of course, it’s possible that the tiny battery just crapped out again.

I'd rather spend the money and save the time than wait for a dealer to do a half assed job again. It's not like we're talking about and engine or transmission here.

Kate is that you? I think you may still be logged into your personal account

At this point, I would just fix it myself as I consider my time to be valuable to not chase the dealers. I probably look into the Genesis Dual Battery kit.

You might be back at a dealer anyway if it's not another bad ESS battery. It's possible but not likely a second ESS battery is bad so soon. It might be someting else causing the battery to go bad. I thought I read someone had the same issues and replacing both the main battery and the ESS battery fixed their issue. Good luck with this.

When they unbox those batteries, they are supposed to charge them to 100%. Usually take a couple hours. If that doesn't happen, then the Jeep needs to be driven for about an hour or so. My guess is that the dealer tech doesn't top off the charge prior to installing the new battery.
