I guess it's all a matter of perspective when it comes to the hard top, I had one on my '12 and it wasn't bad, but like I said it's a matter of perspective. A buddy in high school owned a K5 Blazer with removable hardtop, that thing weighed close to 200lbs and he was rocking a 4in lift. It took 5 of us to remove it or put it back on and there were plenty of rainy days that soaked the interior of that thing...

Have my Ursa Minor coming in next month. I ordered it way back in June. So I’m anxious. Let’s see how that hard top settles out.
Did you get the Ursa minor top yet? I cannot get a hold of anyone there. No response to emails or answer the phone.

Hey buddy. I ordered mine in July. I keep trying to call also. Most of the time they never pick up. Keep trying all the time. I finally got them to pick up. There just busy with new facilities. Mine got pushed for delivery now end of this month November to beginning of December. Let’s see. I coulda used it being prime fishing season sep to nov. it’s ok I’ll wait being so close to delivery. I’ll post as soon as it gets done or delivered.

thanks for responding. Good luck I hope it shows up sooner rather than later. is 6 month wait the norm? Be real interested in net height gain.

Ive got a max limit of 87 inch all in. My Rubi - no lift yet and stock tires - is 73in at hight point. Ive heard you've got to get a lift with the additional weight of the UM top. I think the UM top is +10 in. Which leave me little wiggle room for a lift.

Hey buddy. You have to keep calling and hope you get in touch with Ursa Minor. Leave them a message so they can get back to you and you can get all the info you need. I’m not sure but I think it’s an extra 10inch on top. Gotta get in touch with them

I think so too. I watch venture4wd YouTube channel every Saturday am. He’s got a UM top. Justin Pitcairn, the photog has one with a sweet set up inside as well. If only I could get ahold of the folks there and give them my money.

That’s your opinion. I have to call my cousin to come give me a hand every time I want to remove it. All I’m saying is that modular design would have been the way to go
think of it like a truck canopy, if you want the open air look your gonna need to call some buddys and get help moving it.

and it's going to stay that way for as long as they keep making it out of fiberglass. now when they start making it out of carbon fiber and you can take the top off just by looking at it funny, that's when shits going to get real!

You seem to have forgotten a word...

There, that's better. :cwl:

Seriously though. CF would be a great lightweight option, but I can only image the price tag they'd stick on that thing.

The one thing I wanted fixed with jl was a two piece hard top design for the back portion just like the freedoms hardtop so it can be removed with Only ONE PERSON and would take half the space when it comes to storage.
This design is a nightmare. High chances of nicks and dings every where If using some sort of hoist design without help. And when it is finally taken out it takes such a huge volume
It shouldn’t have been this difficult. This is a dumb design. Should have been modular
Just get the power top then

All you'll need is two ratchet straps to pull it off, so long as you have somewhere to hook the straps overhead. I have no trouble with mine all by myself.
That's rather well done. The treated lumber approach is a nice touch, too.

Thanks, I don't have a garage or a carport, so I needed to build something that could be removed without much fuss that met with the landlord's approval. Works great as a motorcycle shelter too. :)
