Jeep road conditions in the San Juan Mountains this week?

Hi, it's hot and dry down on the western plateau, so we are heading up to a cooler climate at higher elevations, and we are wondering if the roads are dry or still muddy from snow melt.

Has anyone been up on the high passes in recent days?

Thank you!

I guess the plan was premature, as it seems like the road crews are just starting to plow the snow off the cliffs on the high passes.

Where are you located? I was wanting to head out and had not decided where yet. I am in Denver.

Driving from Moab to take a vacation from the heat. I think a few of the passes are open and slushy. I found some photos made this week of deep cuts through snow banks.

We just want to wander while seeing the sights and enjoying the cool weather but plan on avoiding avoiding the slippery stuff.

I'm heading to Ouray tomorrow for a few days. Did you make it down? I don't have much hope in terms of the higher trails as many of those don't open for another month on some years.

We just returned from a 3 day weekend trip from Moab to Silverton and back, and did not try any of the high passes, but I saw on the Facebook San Juan Mountain Trail group that many of the trails were listed as "open" at the beginning of the week, even though there is still snow pack on the sidelines. It was nice to be in 64* weather while the temp at our house was around 100*.

Anybody take the Rimrocker to the Alpine Loop region? What do you think?
