Now 500 miles is a game changer if they can do it!
I'm wondering if that 500 mile range is what is expected in one of the Dodge cars rather than the Recon. Its still a brick so it would need a lot of battery to get that kind of range.

Hi,

The article says "up to 500 miles" which means in the lightest most aerodynamic vehicles it will be in, also doesn't mention temperature range as extreme cold cuts the range in half.

Regards,
Jim

Does that cow have better air flow than our Wranglers!! Sure looks like it!
Yeah, it does! Udderly better aerodynamically in every way. And not to milk the point, but the cow has never had a windshield crack, either. 🤔

Curious how this translates to off road range! My 4xe has no problem 20-25 miles on pavement. Wheeling, lucky to get 10, sometimes more like 6.

500 is amazing, unless it drops to 70%
How much mpg do you get wheeling, I used to get about 4-5mpg with my TJ, probably the same with a JL.

My instant MPG readout never goes above 3 when I'm wheeling. Maybe 5 when its flat and can go into 4th or 5th gear in 4LO. I'm kinda surprised the EV range of a 4Xe is what it is in 4LO.

Fair point! But I can’t carry backup batteries or charging that make a meaningful range difference.

This is the part that gets me: “By combining the benefits of the EDM with our new BEV-centric platforms and innovative battery technologies, we will offer our customers a variety of electric vehicles with unparalleled performance and range at more affordable prices". I'll believe that when I see it unless they've just been sticking it to us with these radical price increases in order to R&D these future optimizations. I've got ocean front property to sell you in Arkansas if you believe the Recon will be cheaper than the 4xe or any other EV/BEV. My hunch is also that the "up to 500 mile range" will be with the yet to be announced small ICE motor they've hinted at as an option for the 1500 REV to help charge the batteries.
