Jeep Positivity!!!!!

I would say I like my 3.6 24’ and am still happy every time I drive it. That being said, I came into my first Jeep (this one) with a healthy understanding of many of the potential problems Jeeps have. The fact that I had a rear main seal replacement at 200 miles, timing chain cover seal and upper oil pan seal replacement at 800 miles and the Jeep is at the dealership as I write this with a dripping leak from the rear main seal area has not really changed my outlook on the situation (dealership thinks upper oil pan again). Even though almost a month of my 3.5 months of ownership has been spent without the vehicle, it still makes me smile when I have it. The fun factor of a straight axle, locked 4WD that you can take the top off of cannot be found in any other new vehicle platform in the US.

Fortunately I have 3 Toyotas I can drive when the Jeep isn’t here.

Had a 2005 TJ Rubicon I used to wheel all the time. I loved that thing - was permanent topless and perfect. Practicality and kids got in the way and I sold it. I've regretted it ever since. Fast forward to a couple years ago - my wife and I needed something we could tow behind the motorhome. The list of cars you can flat tow is pretty short and is mostly made up of little econoboxes. Except for the Jeep Wrangler. It was made to be towed. I told myself I'd keep it stock for a couple of years. I didn't even last a couple of months ? .

I didn't think I'd get back into wheeling but I've been out with a few from this group and have forgotten how much fun it is. The bonus is I get to get my daughters off-road and they love it. I don't ever plan on selling this one unless I'm replacing it with another.

As OP stated, the quality is better than I expected but the biggest benefit is how easy it is to work on myself.

When it comes to Jeeps, the last serious off-road Jeep was the TJR/LJR, this is based upon its simplicity and its LACK of Electronics.. Todays jeep is a complex mess and loaded with electronics that tend to fail.

Then one additional bonus Vs JK and beyond is the TJ Weight.

The TJ will out perform on the rocks better than any other Jeep OEM Vs OEM or built vs built.

I have had 3 Wranglers, a TJ, a Jk, and a JLU. All three have been fantastic reliable vehicles. Build quality may be a little lacking here and there, but they are fun, utilitarian vehicles. If you look at their history and how far they have come it’s easy to overlook the small bads.

I am on my 5th Wrangler and 9th Jeep product overall (a few Liberty's and a Compass for the missus).

2 TJs, 2 JKs, and now a 2019 JL.

All absolutely bulletproof - except the '15 Wrangler blew a cylinder just under 50k miles, but dealer replaced under warranty.

I love my current Wrangler Sahara Altitude the most, Jeep finally meets the modern world. I gave it a hug last night....

I love my Jeep....after 20+ years of owning BMW's and Porsche I ordered the Jeep to get out on Cape beaches and enjoy that scene. I got rid of the Bimmer (kept Porsche ) and have had nothing but a smile on my face with the JL... Its wicked cool and so much fun! I should have bought one much sooner! Glad to see a thread w/o the usual Jeep negativity.

Nice ride! If you want to cut down on some of the dirt road on the side of your jeep a set of Rokblokz front mud flaps are really nice!

I’m impressed with how much I really love this machine.

As a born and bred Ford guy I have become turned off by their quality issues. My TRX has made all other vehicles feel cheap. I decided it was time to let go of my 2013 GT500 Convertible for something I could drive more than 8 times a year, but still enjoy an open-air ride in the summer. I live in the country and wanted something more suited to gravel, mud and year-round use. The only two real options are the Bronco and Wrangler. The first time I ever drove a Wrangler was when I test drove one. Not as refined as a TRX but still so much fun! In fact I find myself driving my 392 more than I thought I would! 35’s are in my future when it time to replace the tires. (The TRX needs tires right now, 42K miles, so the 392 has to wait)

The more I drive my 24 Rubi, the more I like it. My only complaint is I had to get a color my wife liked. Compromises, compromises… After a bright blue Challenger, and a plum crazy purple Roadrunner, she wanted something more subtle, so we ordered Anvil.?

I'll start with a positive surprise. I bought my Wrangler as a mid-life crisis toy and expected it to be a total POS quality wise. I have been completely surprised on how reliable and problem free it has been. It has been more reliable than GM products that I've owned in the past almost on-par with my Hondas but way more fun to drive.

People complain about the amount of power the 3.6L makes, but I think it puts out plenty of power. Any more power and I'd probably end up ripping the suspension off when I'm wheeling. Not a huge fan of the factory gearing, but after almost 3 years of ownership I know what gear to be in when I need it.

What about your JL wrangler has impressed you the most or has been a positive surprise?

The sheer reliability to date, and particularly the Fun Factor of the nonpareil 2.0T/850RE powertrain.

The former was an easy benchmark, relative to the disappointment that was my comparatively brief time with a purchased-new YJ. As for the engine and transmission in my JLU, I've nothing but praise for that pairing.
