LOL, well that would make it a 3 way, to which I will then add and raise one...
RTT > Ground tent > towed camper > RV towing jeep
I'm definitely anti-RTT, currently in my mid-40s so I'm in the 'ground tent' crowd. However, in a decade I could certainly be talked into shifting to the towed cargo trailer camper (preferably a DIY conversion).

Probably already mentioned but spend the money and match the damn spare if you are upgrading wheels/tires. Canā€™t stand a spare that doesnā€™t match. And light bars, how many does a Jeep need?

Totally with you, I dont even wave at angry Jeeps, I just laugh as I drive by themā€¦.. but its the only thing that makes me do that. The rest I dont care and wave at every other Jeeps. Well, if you consider lifting a few fingers off the steering wheel a wave.šŸ¤˜šŸ»
Be careful, one finger only, the middle one is the Bronco wave!šŸ˜ Disclaimer- have owned a 69šŸ‘ and an 89šŸ‘Ž

As many quality lights as you can fit on the Jeep.
Yep, a fellow forum member has started a thread asking if lighted valve stem caps are legal. :like:

How about the spectrum starting on one side with "rock crawling, lifted, off road beast" and going to the other side of "naked beach cruiser where closed toed shoes are not allowed".

I'm in the latter crowd, but I love how wide the gap is and we're all friends and accepted in the culture.

I don't have the spare cash to add things, so I like a car I can mod by removing them!

For what itā€™s worth, Iā€™m politically independent in both politics and Jeeps. I have no animosity to the mall rated crowd, and my daily driver F150 is fully mall rated on 20s and ATs. I just notice that the first thing jumps out at me when I look at a new Jeep is not color, number of doors, or even rubicon/Sahara/sport, I notice more that itā€™s a wheeler vs commuter. Wheelers are my clique in the tribe, but weā€™re all Jeepers. I know we said no politics, but I think itā€™s safe to say the same; at the end of the day we have a whole lot more common ground than we do differences.

My rig pulls daily duty as a commuter most times, but the few times a year that I have enough vacation time, I make the pilgrimage to take her off road. Sheā€™s every bit as special with the top and doors off cruising the town as she is crawling over rocks in Moab. Thatā€™s what makes it cool.
I pretty much agree with every word you typed... one of the things I like about German cars is that generally everything has a purpose... if there's a vent, it's working, not just a decoration... I have no problems with wheelers, but if I made mine look like a wheeler, it would be for decoration, not a purpose. I'm going for more of a hippy vibe with mine... but I suppose if I lived out west I'd spend very little time on roads.

I agree with politics as well. Most people I talk to who vote differently than me, when we talk, we still have 80% in common (I'm using 80 as a placeholder... we're more the same than we are different). And I know we all think we're free thinkers, but I think a lot of our views depend on the environment we grow up in. When I see a subtle political comment here I can almost always guess where that commenter is from, no matter which side they vote.

Anyway, I love driving though the city with the top open and the doors off while everybody is couped up inside their cars with the windows closed and AC blasting... I think people are too insulated from the world around them.

Have a great day!

I'm team lights lights lights!

I do a lot of hunting, and it requires a lot of time on the trails in the dark. A quality light bar turns night into day, its a matter of safety. I have a smaller light bar on the bumper, which a LOT of people hate on, but I aim that at the ground right in front of me as a way to light up the trail when i'm following someone, or there's oncoming traffic, and I don't want to blind them with the lightbar. Also, extra backup lights for when you need to turn around on tight trails.

I had an angry grill on my JK... I did not put it there, got it that way from the previous owner. I hated it. But I lived with it. No angry grills ever again in my future!

I don't think mine are Jeep specific necessarily, but two terms for me really only serve the purpose of charging more money and making the hobby more expensive...

Seriously. It's long distance camping and nylon. Do you Overland with your Tacital Gear? Stop it.

Angry grills are dumb and the average size is only 4.5 inches. Your welcome.
Is there anything useful today thatā€™s not ā€œTacticalā€šŸ˜Š. What a crock that expression is, created to make folks who couldnā€™t survive a couple hours without cell service feel ā€œcoolā€. I too hate it..

Could not agree more! My wife hates the top and doors off as soon as it reaches mid 80s. My threshold is more like 100 lol. Another reason I'd vote for soft top over hard top any day.

Mud Terrain vs All Terrain
I like me some MTs but I don't want the noise or short lifespans.
Even in southern AZ i get a lot of hate when I tell people they need ATs out here. Most of the trails south of PHX are harsh, dry, packed trails, pretty much like asphalt sprinkled with dirt and small rocks. You need more contact with the ground than what an MT offers. Also, MTs just get torn up out here due to the softer compound. Especially the sidewall tread, they chunk like crazy. A good AT will keep useable tread way longer, give you more traction on the packed dirt (99.99% of what's out here) and something like a K02 will still hold its own in the rocks when it's time.

But as stated, people out here will swear by their Toyo M/Ts..... They do look good, I'll give em that!

It's 70 degrees outside and sunny/clear skies, are you taking the dadgum top off
As a person who voted mall crawler, let me explain why...

I'm from the city. I grew up near Chicago and now live in downtown Milwaukee. I'd like to throw on some Rubicon takeoffs when the need arrives, but right now that money is budgeted elsewhere. I'll drive over the random curb or medium... maybe even cut through the grass if nobody is looking... but there is no need for anything more than stock... moreover, I'm not a truck person. I wanted a convertible. I needed an SUV, and I live in the north... Wrangler combines all needs. I feel like I would look like a douche bag if I added anything more than Rubicon wheels because it's unnecessary for my needs. The fact that it has off road capabilities is a bonus... most likely a rarely used bonus.

This is not to squabble with your answer... I take no offense.
Well said...my definition of "mall crawler" also has "...and where the interior of the Jeep never sees the sunlight". You're not one. ;)

Top Off > Top On

And...

Ketchup > Mustard (Jeep camping)
Mary Ann > Ginger (Jeep co-pilot #1)
Rachel > Monica (Jeep co-pilot #2)

Wait, what? Mine activates every day. Every time I stop at a light, and I have a manual as well.

Do you sit with the clutch in at lights?
Yep - thru 50 years and about 15 manual trans vehicles without a clutch problem (current Gladiator excepted).

Iā€™m here for interactions like this. Had a rough week at work this week, this brightened my day. You have a fine weekend sir, enjoy that wind therapy šŸ¤™
