Like the saying goes: That which can’t go on forever, won’t. Jeep has been greedy af these past few years. Now look at what they have to do.

https://www.autoblog.com/2024/02/13...ent-up-theyve-now-dropped-by-as-much-as-4000/

The discounts outlined in the bulletin took effect with 2024 Grand Cherokee production beginning January 31, 2024. Jeep loaded the new figures on its configurator, so the latest opening bids for a Grand Cherokee, and their comparisons to the original 2024MY MSRPs are:

  • Laredo A: $38,390 (No change)
  • Laredo: $39,830 ($2,000 less)
  • Laredo X: $40,580 ($2000 less)
  • Altitude: $44,435 ($2,000 less)
  • Altitude X: $44,935 ($2,000 less)
  • Limited: $47,700 ($3,500 less)
  • Overland: $62,790 ($4,000 less)
  • Summit: $64,445 ($4,000 less)
  • Summit Reserve: $68,835 ($4,000 less)

This isn't surprising - what's surprising is how long it took. Raising prices = lower sales volume. The trick is to manage that as best as possible (in order to be as profitable as possible). Interest rates being what they are probably accelerated this a bit, as well.

I don't expect we'll ever get anywhere close to where we were in late 2020/early 2021, but this is a start.

Dealer discounts are going up at the same time. Still have a ways to go though, back in late 18, I didn't even have to haggle to get $10k (17% off MSRP) off my Ram.

Can't wait for the bottom to fall out, then I'll have to pay people to take my Jeep.
The good news is all newborn Americans get a free Wrangler now......

It would really suck to have just bought one prior to those drops. That also impacts resale values.
I read on my third cousin’s Facebook page that they’re going to let you slide for 6 months on your payment if you recently bought a ‘24.

You aren't supposed to sell Jeeps, just buy them.
That's how car theft rings fit in with the world's ecosystem...... ??

Interesting move to lower the MSRP prices (in the luxury SUV segment). This has to be a response to slowing sales across the entire marketplace and is a move to counter their competition, which probably boasts of lower MSRP's. They do this in competitive situations.

With the Wrangler, aside for the Bronco FCA doesn't really think they have any competition so we have seen them raise prices routinely. I don't expect them to lower Wrangler prices, in this situation I expect them to offer bigger rebates, perhaps in the $4k range for higher priced models. That said, if Ford drops the base MSRP of the Bronco that can change things.

A lot of Wrangler 4xe's are piling up and not selling, consumer research is telling them that it's all due to price resistance. Expect rebates on those soon, as FCA needs to sell as many 4xe's as possible to get their CAFE numbers down.

Limited engine options perhaps a sales factor. Mine has a 392, Hellcat available shortly after, 6.1 SRT available in the prior model, V8 available for all. Now no V8 option for the 2 row. V6 or 4Xe, and the “CARB State Edition 4Xe” costs ~ what my SRT did. …. Also they don’t look as good, especially the front end with squashed grille, appearance opinion’s vary…. Yes “CARB State Edition 4Xe” interesting, and listed as a stand alone trim, V6 NA in top trims.
Options appear very limited in CARB states. Edit- stand alone Wrangler “CARB State Edition 4Xe” to come ?
