There won't be any confusion. The JK won't be around long enough to worry about it, and it will be gone by the time JL's show up in any numbers. I call BS on that one.

Jeep Chief. Just say that a few times and tell me if it sounds right or not. No way I'm calling it a Jeep Chief. Do the JKs even say Wrangler on them anymore? I know on my TJ the only place you could find the word Wrangler was on the tires before I changed them and on the paperwork.

I'm with you guys. I'd presume they'll carry the Chief package over to the JL eventually again.

If they sold a fixed roof (Africa) version and called it a Chief - that would be more along the lines of the Jeep Cherokee Chief concept from a few years ago and the original Cherokee Chief. Got to think the Jeep "Africa" wouldn't be received too well as model name.

Thread hijack...

The JLU hardtop should have the ability to be this configuration. It'd just be SO damn easy to design a top with modular windows capable of this net result.

I look at the fact that Jeep can't design the current JK hardtop to not leak. Adding more seems and joints, can only make it worse.

Frameless full doors - like the rear door kinda is (just chopped I presume) - would be an added plus. Like the old Blazer/ Jimmy:

When the heat comes, they'll just remove the "i" and call it the Chef edition.

I'm starving.

I don't see who would get offended by "Chief"? It's not an insult that I am aware of.

I didn't know Chief was associated the Cherokee. Doesn't make sense to use it on a Wrangler of the new pick-up.

Is it a common occurrence for the 2017 JK/JKU hardtop to leak? I'm looking to buy a JLU and that is somewhat worrying if it does...

Mine came off the truck during a long down pour. So, I got the leak test before I took delivery, which it passed. :)

However, over in the JK forums, there are many, many, many, many, ... , many threads started by people complaining that their top leaks. Most have reported they have had numerous trips to the dealer's to attempt to get it fixed in vane. Some eventually give up and live with it. Some file a suit against Jeep. :swear:

Jeep even has a service manual specifically dedicated to finding and fixing leaks.
