For many years after the war whenever I heard the sound from these and hueys I would shake. Some sounds tend to haunt you.

Yup, me too, brother.

Its sudden loud noises that get me. Fireworks, engine backfire, lightning... Seems like the Taliban/AQI would only shoot at us when it was quiet out. That and Mortar/Rocket us randomly. IEDs were pretty bad too. I honestly only remember hearing the echo of the explosion for the one that hit my vehicle.

Things changed when helicopters showed up. They scattered since they knew that meant certain death for them. Helicopter rotor noise is a comfort for me since only the foolish would attack us when they were overhead.

They're helicopters - they all like to leak on you. On the other hand I've gotten plenty of hydraulic fluid, jet fuel and engine oil on me walking around/under the A6. We used to say it was part of the preservation program - if it's bathed in petroleum based products it can't corrode.

Really can't argue against that. You'd hate the Osprey then, because they're pretty clean inside and don't tend to leak yet, lol.
