The extra long pipe to run to the other end of the muffler/resonator is unnecessary and visually distracting.

What did I miss?

This just runs one out by the frame in back. What is this "extra long pipe to run to the other end of the muffler/resonator" of which you speak?

This is the exhaust I was referring to. not the one Eric currently has.

That setup is better, as the pipes exit on opposite ends of the muffler.
