7:30AM
"Don’t forget that Friday is a holiday! Also, if your project responsibilities allow it please feel free to take off early today and get a jump on the long weekend.

I reply with "Have a great weekend/4th!"

8:25AM he sends this email...
"Steve, there’s a nice 4-hour meeting to kick off the next phase of Vanguard ES. Didn’t want to bore you with the whole invitation, but if there’s a need for you in one of the breakout sessions I’ll ping you (those are scheduled to start at noon, of course). Thanks!"

Note: "Breakout session" is corporate-speak for "We're going to schedule an unnecessarily long meeting and waste a whole bunch of peoples' time in it"

11:25AM he sends me...

"At this point it looks like there will be no breakout session for us. Cheers!"
