Read a story that a Marine F35 shot itself last week - causing $2.5M damage.

25mm tracer round exploded right out the barrel of its 3000 rounds/min cannon. Aircraft landed and pilot unharmed, but daaamn that's crazy.

Edit: Looks like they may have downgraded the amount of damage.

The F-35 is a boondoggled turd.

I never got a chance to really see them in action though, but its so far been a pretty awesome replacement for the Harrier.

The Harrier would show up, and barely have time to do anything for you before heading off to the tanker. The F-35B has a much better loiter time. Compared to the F-16 and F/A-18 I really can't say how well it does in A and C form.
