Sheesh there sure have been a lot of bad drivers this morning. Missing exhaust systems (ten minutes of a rumbling truck... that was a car). Endless banging of dumpster lids (probably a body or two). Most recent is this dump truck grinding gears, apparently driving in circles.

Nice to know that even mornings where I might want to sleep in I can't.

I have two dumb questions. Are takeoffs at full throttle? (Where'd the extra power come from to keep it from losing altitude and ultimately dropping from the sky? 50kt headwind saved it?) Half way through the corrective roll, why didn't they drop the nose? (Surely the stall warning fired, vertical speed zeroed, speed dropped.)

I realize it's no Cessna but this looks half a second from dropping backwards onto the runway.

My brother in law is a airline pilot, he tells me everything is calculated for you based off weight, environment, etc. So they set a certain throttle and rotate at a particular distance, at a certain airspeed, etc.

All designed to maximize efficiency / fuel. My guess is there was a "oh, shit" delay that looks like a long time on the video but was really a few seconds as they diagnosed the problem and then provided a multitude of corrections.
