Ummm...just out of curiousity...what's it take to be called a "redneck" in Tennessee?
You know, growing up in TN, rednecks (to me) were always guys. Never considered a woman one, but I know that isn't true. It's just a look in my head that always popped up - shirtless, smoker, shoeless, always has pot somewhere available, pickup truck, ain't got no grammar skillz, unkempt, backwoods, prolly had a still or two in a holler somewhere. I'll add to the list as my mind soaks up my coffee.

Edit: forgot they speak in as little syllables as possible. Like the old "jeet" thing is "did you eat?" etc. "Jonto?" is "Did you want to?" I can translate pretty well. I had a few redneck relatives. My dad was directly related to the banjo-pickin' hill-livin dirt floor dudes, and we'd go visiting every now and then, back in the area he grew up. He had a million great stories of his redneck relatives' shenanigans.

And yes they ran stills. My mamaw kept a bottle of moonshine just like granny in Beverly Hillbillies, for medicinal purposes. <shudder> I never did like the stuff. But I guess it wasn't for liking, huh lol.

As with other things, there are different degrees of redneck. Anything from red neck lite, to full blown redneck redneck!
