Just visited my local Jeep dealer and it looks like they are trying to include GPS trackers (+345$) on all the wranglers they have in stock.

Seems kind of odd to me to have that on a new vehicle. I assume it's for the younger / bad credit audience who get themselves into too much vehicle?

I haven't asked about having that removed and taken off the order, but I'm not convinced I'd want that. Is that now normal in the industry or am I missing something?

Plenty of Jeep dealerships out there. Go to a different one.

I hate dealerships who force after-market stuff on customers.

If I wanted a tracker, I'd have my own installed, to my own specs.

I agree, the next Jeep dealer is 3 hours from me, might be worth a trip.

It's worth it, honestly. Call ahead, make sure they aren't idiots.

I often purchase from hundreds of miles away just to get what I want, and to deal with someone better.

Nothing new. There's quite a few posts about people finding such things and extra wiring in their new Jeeps. Many dealers install these types of thing with the hopes of "upselling" the buyer. These add-on systems are typically crap and not worth the money. Others install trackers as the finance/lease firm they typically use requires them. Lastly, these things are so cheap to install, most dealerships never bother to remove them even if the buyer doesn't purchase them.

While it's annoying for people smart enough to do a little research before buying, these must be making money opportunites for the dealership, generally. If I were a dealer, I'd probably offer the same "dealer-installed" equipment to less informed buyers, too...because as I learned from Robocop, "Good business is where you find it!"

I can't believe what some people put up with. I'd tell 'em to put it in their ass.
