What is an offroad package? Is this Mopar accessories? Is this the "hard rock" or other various special editions? What does offroad mean? I ordered a Rubicon

It's just a few "gee whiz" screens that you can view on the Uconnect screen instead of the instrument cluster. Right now they are working on the instrument cluster, but not on the Uconnect screen. It's aggravating, but in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal, like getting cancer or something. Enjoy your Rubicon.

So I just used the CHAT online to get an update on my JLUR - still in D status - 3 weeks in. And then I asked about the Off-Road pages and here is the chat below! So it will be available once launched as a software update. So everyone can calm down - it's coming. He was very quick to reply with the answer - like in 20 seconds - which makes me feel like he had been briefed on the issue by FCA and they now have a proper response to they customers. I know I'm not cancelling my order!!

What would lead you to believe the folks in Jeep chat have their shit together? They respond quickly to order status requests and we all know how that goes.

Still makes no sense. If FCA is eliminating off road pages due to an accuracy issue, they would be doing so to remove a potential liability. If that same information remains on the instrument cluster, the liability remains and FCA achieves nothing - except for generating an irate customer base.
No explanation for why 2018 models can’t get it makes any real sense. I mainly wanted to point out that it’s a possibility.

With all the double-talk of JeepCares and UConnect, do we really "know" anything about off-road pages other than they get removed when the vehicle is prepped at the dealer?

I agree, we really don't have a clear message, my thoughts is that they feel they will be ready with 2019MY, won't be advertising or selling them anymore for now for the 2018MY but I feel the 2018 will get the update when sorted. Hoping they confirm this shortly instead of letting us all steam over

If so, they would need to remove them from the driver's cluster as well and they haven't yet.

So I used the email link on Jeep's page, and got this disheartening response:

Jeep Wrangler JL Jeep announces that 2018's will NOT get the Off-Road pages fvE3GbP

Well darn it, that kind of settles it then. Have to think about cancelling my 2018 or live without something I ordered where I'm not going to get full value of what I thought I was getting.

I think it is time to cancel my JLUR order to wait for 2019 and I hope I’m not out my deposit.

I'd love to hear a lawyer's thoughts on this. "Features subject to change" isn't some all-powerful phrase that lets Chrysler do whatever they want.

If it was discovered the new 4 cylinder engine's turbocharger had major reliability problems, and Chrysler decided it was cheaper to simply lower the boost on the factory turbos via a software update, causing everyone who bought the turbo 4 to suddenly have substantially less power, could they simply shrug their shoulders and say "hey, we said features subject to change!"

If the Alpine radio's subwoofer was known to flake out and start rattling, could they push out a software update that just disables the sub? "Features subject to change!"

Give me a break.

The phrase "features subject to change" is meant to be used by marketing departments, not service departments! Once a Jeep has been delivered and includes a particular feature in its software, in its build sheet, in its owners manual, etc, you can't just pull the rug out from under thousands of owners when it's convenient and say "hey, we warned you in the fine print." This is even more true when the feature being disabled post-delivery is one that many people paid extra for. Many people shelled out an extra $1500 for the 8.4" UConnect system because of this feature. I mean you also get the alpine system and a slightly bigger screen, but who is to say how many people would have declined this option if it didn't also include the off road page?

I understand the off road page isn't a deal breaker for everyone here... but the principle of this issue and the way it's being handled should be VERY concerning to any of you who are trusting Jeep to stand behind their product.

Initially attracted to the JL rubicon because of the off road meters (reminded me of the FJ Cruisers at CarMax with custom off road meters mounted to the dash panel). If they take it off the instrument cluster display for rubicon, then I may cancel my order ... breach of contract (in a non-legal sense).

Still, other owners that have their JLs say that their instrument cluster display does have the off road pages ... if so, then I would be happy enough to purchase the JL.

My guess is FCA jeep engineers barely had the time to get the off road pages on the Instrument Cluster Display ... and that was a custom/hack job that barely passed all the integration tests in time for it's release. Hack job in a sense that it could not communicate with the 8.4" display infotainment system.

Would not be surprised if some big shot at FCA required these off road meters be at the release of the 2018 JL ... and a herculean effort was done to do it. Just guessing.

So folks, this should be a simple update, Jeep is just being lazy. You have the power to make that change. If we blow up social media enough and make a big enough stink, they will have to make the change. I could care less about the pages, but the fact that it's likely such a small change to make it happen and they instead just remove a promised feature pisses me off. I think we have all seen enough arrogance out of FCA with this launch and the issues already.

At the very least, I want to know if we can swap out the 2018MY headunit for a 2019MY and get the off-road pages that way. Seems like they are going to be stingy and not roll out that update to older headunits for whatever reason. And seriously, they need to provide some sort of credit for this BS.
