Once again, at least for a few more weeks, it's that time to tap the maple tree to collect that clear sap to turn into maple syrup.
Last year spring came late and left early so the time frame to collect sap was not too long. That meant I only was able to get about 2 quarts of syrup before the sap quit flowing.
This year spring has been more like a continuation of winter as the days are only in the forties and the nights are below freezing. That makes for great sap collection for an extended time.
Right now I get about five gallons of sap a day and it takes about ten gallons of sap to get just under two quarts of syrup. So far I've gotten just under four quarts of maple syrup with another two quarts hopefully by the end of today.
