Interesting, was the rattle noise happening when going over bumps at slow speed?Ha Ha! I've had my JL for three weeks and just the other day was driving and had this annoying rattle noise coming from somewhere on the passenger side. Drove me nuts. Once I got home - that was the problem. Looks like the panel had come just a little loose and was now rubbing on the bottom.
Over bumps. Drove around for hours trying to figure out where it was coming from.I may have to check investigate this on mine.

I've had my Rubicon for 3 weeks, and I'm having what sounds like this very same problem. I initially thought it was a result of having the rear seat folded in (2-dr), so I rode for a while with the seats in place. I get the same creaking (not rattling) noise on the passenger side. This isn't what I expected from springing for the "premium" audio system.Over bumps. Drove around for hours trying to figure out where it was coming from.

Well... that's encouraging. This extremely helpful... hopefully I'll get it done before the rattling shows up. Many thank-yous...@melendez69
Good chance your creaking (it will eventually be a rattle) is related to:

Mine ended up being a trim piece on my hard top... right behind the roll bar/front passenger seat. it had come loose and just snapped back into place. I thought mine was the rear seat folded as well. That's exactly where I'm hearing this... I'm hoping to end this nightmarish sound this weekend. Did it take you long? I hope it's something I can do on my own.Mine ended up being a trim piece on my hard top... right behind the roll bar/front passenger seat. it had come loose and just snapped back into place. Thank you for pointing me here... I never would've found this thread on my own.@melendez69

When I found it, it just snapped back into place. It did come loose once again. I'll probably have the dealer look at it when I take it in for the cruise control recall.That's exactly where I'm hearing this... I'm hoping to end this nightmarish sound this weekend. You'd think it would be something complicated. I'm not sure if I was more annoyed at the rattling, that it was a simple fix, or that the design in itself is terrible and looks like a rush job. One of the more knowledgeable posters can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there's wiring behind it (maybe for the speakers up top). I removed the cover completely & used command strips (credit to Rhinebeck01)...it's holding up nicely. It looks odd without.I just had this happen too;
Couple of long days of being annoyed. It was like marble in a can loud. Kept looking at seat and seatbelt. Finally this morning I pulled seat forward and actually saw hint of a reflection of that thing dancing around behind there. Just pushed it back for now. Have some 3m vhb left over from another project that I may fix with. Wonder what it would look like with piece just removed? Seems like a metal support rod behind there.
