@JeepCares and my dealership have been great in helping me with all this. You have to be methodical and replace one thing at a time, otherwise you won't know the real source of the problem. I don't know who said the steering should be fine without a dampener, but that's BS. If that were true, there would be no dampener designed into the system in the first place. It may not be the full solution, as in my case, but it certainly did help. A new drag link/tie rod end helped a bit, too. A Rancho track bar is going on next, for good measure. I'm pretty happy with where mine is now. The track bar is just for fine tuning it.

You are exactly right!!! Dampers are there for a reason as part of the suspension "system". I agree they can mask problems or be used as a band-aid IN SOME CASES but they do serve a function even in a new/unworn/perfectly set up front system. I know beacuse I was a suspension/steering design & development engineer for one of the big three for many years.

I had my damper replaced under warranty about 1000 miles ago and still not experiencing any severe wobble over one wheel bumps at highway. Damper dampens any resonance out now as it should. You can add a significant amount of friction or increased damping to make sure you never get ANY oscillation whatsoever but I gaurantee you would agree that system would be terible if you drove it. Everything is a balance.

Currently on my third OEM stabilizer, still waiting on the newly redesigned one. I had the trackbar done as well, but it didn't really make a difference.
Hi Old_Greggg,
We would be happy to have a case escalated for you to add some additional assistance throughout this process. If this is something you would be interested in, please send our team a private message!

Just blew my 4th stabilizer in under 1 year. First one went in September, then January, then 2 weeks ago, then yesterday. Latest repair was done with the version AD part (I think last 2 times it was this version) which clearly is no good either. I'm told by Jeep rep that version AE was released about 2 weeks ago and dealership said it was available for order, but backordered with no ETA. At this point looking seriously at just walking away since this seems like the definition of insanity. Other than radio tuning issue (which they also don't see to have a fix for) haven't had any other significant issue, but it seems to me that the front end design just has some flaws that aren't fully understood.

H RPerson,
We can imagine why this may be disappointing. We understand that you may already be working with someone from Jeep Customer Care but please feel free to send us a private message if you have any questions or concerns during this process.

Dont worry dogboyslimm they will call you to tell you they are sorry its taking so long and that will be the end of it
This is funny. Talked with them, they said they'd work with me to get the part in time for my May 8th dealer appt. Called Friday to tell me part not expected until May 20 something.

I'm still grateful that they are on here, and I do think we get more attention than if they weren't, but I chuckle at the prescience of your comment.

Does your radio change channels on its own

I got my jeep back today with the newest version of the stabilizer. The stabilizer kills the shimmy, but I suspect it would still be there if not for the stabilizer, so it will probably return. That aside, I appreciate @JeepCares for working with my dealer to get this done as quickly as they could get it done. It wasn't as fast as I'd like, but they did follow-up on status and keep me informed. More than I would have otherwise expected, so thanks.

Hope my experience can help those that are still experiencing DW and steering wheel slacks+wander.

Asked dealer to apply TSB# S1819000003 and S1819000004 but with my own supplied Fox Racing ATS stabilizer and their updated track-bar.
End result? Iā€™m just gonna close the books on this and calling it fixed.
On my way home, I intentionally rode over bumps(one wheel),went straight for a giant pothole at full speed, no death wobble, not even a wobble, one thump and done, very satisfied.
As for drift/steering wheel slack, the track bar appears to fix most of that, there is about half an inch of play but over all very smooth and consistent. Seems to be more resistant when turning the steering wheel but thatā€™s probably due to the stabilizer. I had the SS setting set about 3-4 clicks at fairly soft.
Overall very happy and glad to not have to deal with issue again. (Hopeful)

There is a brand new Customer Satisfaction Notification V41 Steering Damper out dated June 2019. I wonder why it also includes the bracket and bolts and not just the damper. Hmmmmm.
