Hello All,

I am currently starting to price my first Wrangler build and wanted to know if they are quoting me a decent price or if their are better alternatives to what I am wanting.

Thanks

The lift install seems high. If we consider they show their shop rate at $75 an hour and the lift is 6 hours to install that puts it around $450.

The diff cover installs look reasonable, as does the undercloak install.

The shop rate at $75 is also pretty good.

I dont have access to a lift, what parts of this should I be able to do myself with limited skill and youtube as my knowledge base?

You can do it all without a lift, just a bit tougher on your back!

A good jack, jack stands, and perhaps even a set of ramps is all you need.

Diff covers and skids are easy work. Bolt on's and the draining/filling is not a big deal.

The lift is more work but lots of YouTube videos will show you how to get it done properly and safely.

With the money saved get yourself the new Metalcloak steering parts.

You should do it yourself, nothing you’re doing listed there is that hard, as @oceanblue2019 has stated. The only thing I’d suggest is to get an alignment when your done. You can even do that part yourself, it’s just caster, toe , and straighten the steering wheel. But I like seeing my caster setting on the computer, just my ocd...lol.

By doing this yourself it will change the way you look at and feel about your rig. You’ll have more confidence if you bend or break something on the trail, you’ll more understand what happened and what the part does and how to fix it.

Just be very careful.... doing your own work is very addictive......;)

I would not install that lift for $1000. Doing all 8 control arms and getting them right is a lot more work than you guys think. It's not just front caster and rear pinion angle, it's also wheelbase, and it takes a lot of trial and error to get the wheelbase right. Of course you could half ass it and leave 6 of the arms at stock length and only adjust the front lowers for caster angle. I suspect that's what anyone installing this lift for $1k would do.

I'm all for doing it yourself, but I'd work your way up to a full kit like that. Start with springs, shocks, bump stops, sway bar links, and front lowers. Later down the road add track bars and the other 6 control arms.
