@CorgiAttack check your radiator fan. On my wifes Subaru Forester, at low speeds, and when it's idling, you can hear it clicking sound coming from the engine bay. For whatever reason it is her fan on the front of the vehicle. I checked it out before and felt around for any issues, and I think it's just sort of rubbing at a certain point, but I can't really figure out exactly where. It's been doing it for 50,000 miles now, so I'm not too worried about damage at this rate.

Also too, it could be your serpentine belt or your timing belt. If it has a little knick in it, or a bump in the belt, it could be making the clicking sound.
His 3.6L will not have a timing belt. But it does have a bunch of timing chains.

Can't tell you..shhh
When driving normally in a straight line, slight pressure on the gas pedal and then releasing it sometimes makes a Metal clicking sound, but it's relatively slight and can be heard but not recorded with my cell phone. Maybe I should try putting the phone on the frame.
That's the same way mine was. Very slight noise but enough to hear.

I saw a post yesterday that said the driver's manual indicated a slight knocking with 87, but I'm not sure if this is oil related maybe I'll change the oil and try it out
