Seeing people able to spend a few days in a Jeep, overlanding and camping makes me pretty envious here in East Tennessee. It seems the only thing here is close quarter off-roading. Is there anywhere a Jeep can go where you can spend a weekend offroad, camping at night?

I don't have an answer but with the Smokies right out your door I would imagine there are a lot of offerings for you.

There are tons of forest roads to explore in eastern TN, western NC, and northern Ga. You can find primitive campsites all along forest roads in the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains.

I use both. OnX and Gaia both have positives and negatives. I prefer Gaia but onX picks up trails that Gaia omits on occasion.
I also use iOverlander, AllTrails, and Recreation.gov. Between the 5 apps, I’m able to find most anything I need.

Here’s a snap shot of what I’ve accumulated for East KY and TN. I’ve not been able to drive any yet. Most, if not all, might be from Overland Bound forum. They have a couple of forums there that they share gpx files.

There aren’t a lot of good Jeep roads in the Smokies. The roads are often so well maintained that a Cadillac can drive them, or they are closed. It’s not like out west...

I've never done it myself but I have the Georgia traverse bookmarked in my browser.

https://www.georgiaoverland.com/georgiatraverse.html
I did the Traverse from the Alabama line to Duncan Ridge and Woolfpen Gap a few last weekend. I need to go back and finish it, but I suspect I've done all of it at some time. I'm in a mostly stock JLUR (no lift, stock ATs) and never used 4Lo. Only used 4Hi to jeep things from slipping on rocks and gravel.
It was a nice relaxing ride. Storms came through on night 1 and there were a lot of limbs down on the route. Night 2 it started pouring and I decided to go home since I had not set up camp yet. 3 days should be plenty of time to do it

All good information. I am in North Alabama and want to start exploring the South East. I have a Jeep Extreme Trail Rated Camper. Pretty much restored everything. All I need to do to finish the resto is put the snaps on the new tent and the articulating hitch on the tongue.
