Is there a way to remove the requirement of the seatbelt being on for the Auto Start/stop to work?

I don't want to have my seatbelt on for the auto start stop to work. They're not even related so I don't get it

Didnt even know this was a thing.

Do you really have to be belted for ess to function?!

Maybe buy a replacement buckle and insert it while leaving the real one undone?

:).... this also allows you to move with the door open, for backing up to a trailer or going through a gate you have to close behind you etc.... I use these all the time.

Have you driven a car that has auto stop start enabled when the driver's seat belt is unbuckled?

At the ranch we always just buckle it and sit in front of it

Why would you want to use such a feature? 1 mostly dry start a trip should be enough wear & tear on the engine. Subject a several thousand dollar lump of parts to save a few cents on gas. Makes no sense to me

I clip my seatbelt behind the seat when I’m on trails. Doesnt dig into your side when you’re sitting.

If you’re adamant about not having a seatbelt on while in situations that you’d want ESS working, just buy those cheap seatbelt dummy clips to stick in the receiver.

Seat belt is not a requirement on the 2018 JL, I don't wear my seatbelt at times and the start stop still functions as normal, again, seat belt is not required.

I may be wrong but I believe it's when your seat detects you leaving the seat that the ESS turns off and the engine starts. As a photographer there are times I'll pull over to take a shot of something. Once I stop the ESS kicks in. As soon as I begin to lift my butt off the seat it turns off.
