Has anyone replaced their Mopar Rubicon steel bumper with an aftermarket one?

I replaced my rear steel bumper with an @lodoffroad Destroyer. Mostly because I'm going to run 37s and I like my Tailgate.

I was VERY suprised how light the Mopar Steel Bumper is compared to the @lodoffroad . It's great quality, but not nearly as robust as LoD.

My rear bumper is for sale, and I'd 100% consider selling both, together. If you are looking for a set let me know.

Definitely a fan of the LOD bumpers, did their side steps/sliders, super high quality, so beefy!

That warn rear bumper looks dope. I really don't like any of the license plate solutions though. Love the way it wraps around the sides though. Also, i'm upgrading my front to the factory steel bumper so wouldn't mind if it complimented that some. That warn looks great though.

I keep going back and fourth on replacing my Mopar steel bumper with an aftermarket one, I put a few upgrades on mine such as the Maximus stinger/brush guard, Warn winch plate with a Warn Zeon 10,000s, and some Baja replacement fogs. I have really wanted to switch to say a new aftermarket bumper like the mid width ARB Bondi or the Road Armor with the sweet stinger that recesses the winch. I cannot decide if it is worth the trouble considering how great my stock bumper has worked in the past! Things I like about a new bigger stronger bumper is the tank like feeling of hitting a deer, etc and just not having to worry about small fender benders. Some input as far as what you guys have done, either switching or why you like the stock one, might help me make my decision!

If you want your bumper to be able to be load bearing and smash on rocks with hard wheeling then yes if your just doing minor stuff then no. Looks good and functions as a great winch platform. The rear is a complete other story...

Looking forward to seeing more pics of this bumper. I was holding out for an AEV but the more I look I like this one. What is the texture of the powder coat like? It is similar in texture and appearance to the OEM on the bumper or the stock rock rails? Thanks.

I have a steel rear bumper if you need one with factory reverse sensor cut-outs
Don: do you still have the steel rear bumper with sensors? Would you consider shipping, at my expense?

I like the light weight of the Mopar bumper.

It holds my winch and lights, the fog light aim is perfect for me, and when the end caps are off, it holds my flag for off-road parks that require them. The biggest thing for me, though, is the light weight. The more weight you add to the Jeep, the less power it has and the more stress you put on the drive train. I've had friends wonder why my Jeep is significantly quicker than theirs, which have heavy front/rear bumpers, spare tire racks, heavy skids underneath, heavier wheels/tires, etc. Of course there are tradeoffs in protection and such, but for me, light weight is the way to go. Every mod I do takes weight into consideration. For example, the Smittybilt XRC9500 with syn rope is only 46lbs. Most other winches are 10 to 30 pounds heavier. Add bumpers, heavier winch, heavier tires/wheels, skids, and you are adding significant weight that takes more power and traction to get it moving. It eats away at fuel economy and increases the liklihood of breaking a suspension part on the trail.

The big drawback, though is if you hit things, plus I've seen some folks have the rear bumper push into the corner body metal. I've also seen some aftermarket bumpers with nice hi-lift jack mounts, which is something I need to figure out. In the end, it depends on your priorities.

I love my Rubi Steel Bumper. What i like most is the ability to easily convert it to a stubby when i go rock crawling. added a warn winch and a warn mid height stinger and im golden. keep the Mopar bumper.

Agree. I know I will eventually go up to at least 37s if not 40s, so I didn't want to have to replace the tailgate with all that weight hanging off the back.

Go aluminum. Went to a RockHard rear. Saved more weight and much better protection than the Mopar. Also gained recovery points.

I like the look of the steel bumper, you can make it as busy as you want, but a simple winch and contrasting FlatLink and Bull bar is about perfect for me.

I also just replaced my steel bumper with LOD Destroyer full width and yes there's a 100 pound weight difference (including the tire carrier only). Question...after installing the LOD bumper, I noticed that the Trailer wiring harness bracket seems to stick down a bit...and figuring it would be the first to get tagged by a rock (if rock crawling), have you thought about relocating the wiring harness higher or somewhere else?
