Looking to change the differential fluid in my 2019 JL with a Dana M220 rear axle. The build sheet and the window sticker list "Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle" but most other places where I see info listed about the M220 rear axles lists it as "Trac-Lock Limited Slip Differential". Are those the same thing?

Planning on using Royal Purple Max Gear 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Oil front & rear, as long as those two differential descriptions are for the same differential.

Thanks for any and all info.

Best,
-Tim

You should be good with Royal purple synthetic. You don’t want to much friction modifier because then the lsd won’t work. I use amsoil 75W90 severe gear synthetic front and rear with no modifier on my 220 and have had no issues. Once you change the fluid drive around in circles in an open lot and listen for chattering from the rear. If you hear any add small amounts of modifier until the chatter goes away. I doubt you’ll need it though.

Amsoil recommends adding Mopar friction modifier if you have the LSD.

(1) Add 2.37 oz of Mopar limited-slip additive (MS-10111).

They have to state that because the manufacturer calls for it. As long as you make sure there is no chattering the lsd is fine.

Here is a screenshot of the product page once you try to buy it. Says to use amsoil slip loc. Been using Amsoil for years with LSD’s and never had to add any modifier.
