The benefit is that the lights go on each time I put into reverse as opposed to the aux switches. I'm pretty sure half the time I will forget to turn them off so just curious.

I am in the process of mounting two of these:

I will be mounting on the tail gate and would be taping into the passenger side light. I don't have the towing package to those lines aren't an option.

Has anyone taped into that line for this purpose and did you have any issues?

Searched the site and couldn't find this one.

I'm thinking of using a reverse light tap to trigger a relay and then power my reverse light bar direct from the battery on a fused line. Anybody else do that?

It's done all the time. You'll be fine.

Do you have the trailer wiring harness? Seems safer (and is pretty easy) to tap in there.

Behind passenger tail-light you will find where the tow harness is plugged in. Just find the right wire in that to tie into.

I have done this for my work dump trucks. Very easy simple wiring if you understand the relay. For some reason, my mechanics have issues reading the relay diagram, but it is stupid easy for me, but of course the have their skills that I cannot touch.
