When I first start up my vehicle (after its been sitting a while/over night), it does not auto detect my ipod plugged in. I have to unplug it and re-plug it in to be detected. If the vehicle has only been shut off for a short time (running into a store), it will auto detect it no problem... anyone else have this issue? I like the car play too, but dont want to plug something in everytime i hop in my jeep. Just want it to start playing when I fire it up. Anyone have this issue or a fix? didnt see any settings.

My iPhone will connect via Bluetooth with no issues but if I get out and shut the Jeep down and get back in it say 10 mins later the music never connects but all other functions of the phone do like texting, phone etc.. the music neve does well maybe once in like a blue moon, I can connect manually fine but once I get out and back in after itā€™s been shut down it does the same thing and I have all the latest updates it just does not work

Hello, I have the same issue with Cherokee Overland 2019, I am sorry to write on a Wrangler forum but nobody talks about that in Cherokee threads :(
I have the lest gen of iPod Nano, never had problem with my last car, but now I have the same problem of KillaRubi and I need to fix it because plug it in/out nonstop is not comfortable for me and for sure not good for the USB plug life!
My AutoPlay is set to ON but not solved yet!
If someone fixed that problem, I please you to help me!
Thank you guys :)

Hi Eddy9000,
I understand why this would be frustrating. It looks like KillaRubi realized that the iPod was going to sleep, causing the Uconnect system to not recognize it. I would double check and see if your iPod is doing the same thing. If this does not help, please send us a private message and I will gladly look into this further for you.

Thank you so much, I don't know if the iPod goes to sleep, when the car is ON in the ipod display I just see that the car is connected to the device, when I turn OFF the car the display of apple device gets normal with all the icons, but I will check tomorrow what appens after few hours; I will write you a private message!
By the way now I found another solution, I phoned to Italy Jeep Service but they don't know this issue and they do not have a planned uConnect upgrade scheduled, so I had to think and finally I realized that a classic USB pen always works fine, but what I like of ipod is the opportunity to have my playlist, titles and cover on the screen, and this is impossibile just by copy/paste mp3 on the USB pen; I found a solution just using Music Monkey, steps are not easy to do but then your USB pen will like your iPod and Music Monkey will be like iTunes, if you want I write here all the steps!
By the way, if the problem of our iPod is "going to sleep" there's not a menu where you can disable it, but if you want there is a way to disable it: just connect the ipod to your PC (no Mac, it's for Windows OS), you can see the device in your Computer folder, open it and activate the visualization of hidden folders, now you must be able to see an hidden folder called "iPod_Control", double click and again double click in "Device" folder, now there is an XLM file called "iPodSettings" right click and open with Note Pad, with the command FIND just type "<EnergySaver>1</EnergySaver>" you will now find that string and change the value 1 to 0; now search "<NowPlaying><EnergySaver>0</EnergySaver></NowPlaying>" and do the same thing changing 1 to 0; now save the file and close the Note Pad, the last step now is to right clik the "iPodSettings" file, Proprieties and check the box "Read only" (or something like that) then OK, close the window and disconnect the iPod!
This procedure is for iPod Nano 7th gen (for sure not for iPhone) and I didn't tested yet, tomorrow I will test it and write you back, anyway it's at your own risk!

Doesn't work, I tested today, with this procedure iPod is always awake, the battery drain is minimum but after 2 hours my Jeep didn't read it, so I don't think the problem is "going to sleep", I think the problem is how USB connections are powered!
I think I give up with iPod, I will use the USB pen with Music Monkey, it works really good and I have nothing to fix with that!

I'm having the exact same issue with my iPod connected to USB2 in the console. This same iPod has worked flawlessly in 2 other vehicles for the past 3 years (including a 2017 Jeep Cherokee!). I'm not an Apple fan, but I don't think it's an Apple issue. I think it's how the USB ports are initialized/mounted on boot up. If I disconnect/reconnect the iPod, it works fine. What sucks is I have the Tuffy Console Security insert, and I really don't want to unlock it, reconnect the iPod every time I want to use it. I know, JL-real-world-problems.....

The problem is definitely in how Jeep powers their USB ports. They must set the ports to power down/power save after a period of time, and it takes a re-plug to wake it back up. It sucks! A simple 5 minute code change would fix this, but Jeep seems to be to lazy to do it. What an inconvenience to its customers.
