Basically, the same issue for me also. I'm a musician and have an enclosed gear trailer attached to the Jeep when I gig on weekends. It's kind of a funny thing, but my bandmate and I rush to get the gear loaded in the trailer BEFORE the lights go out. I haven't timed it, but the parking lights stay on about 15 minutes possibly. The trailer has a dome light and of course, the light comes on when I turn on the Jeep's parking lights (engine off). I've tried to turn the parking lights back on after they go out, but am unable to do so. I haven't tried restarting the Jeep engine and maybe that recycles the timer on the parking lights, but I don't want to have to do that each time to get the parking lights to turn on. Pretty sure I've pushed the ignition button to activate "aux" and the "run" positions, but that didn't work either.I get that it’s to conserve battery, but when camping and reading or cooking in the dark, I wish I could make them stay on.
Is there a way?
@Rhinebeck01 Got the lights, and they are indeed very bright!I took your advice, R01, and ordered the lights. I camp alone, in remote places. A dead Jeep would really suck.
Thanks!
We’ll have to agree to disagree on the protruding on/off switch. Mine require maybe 2-3 ounces of pressure to turn on.@brazos
I keep one mounted all the time in the back... Dead Center above the tail gate glass. I mounted that one with Industrial Strength Velcro.
The other I have inside a white sock and it sits/resides right above the scissor jack.... just under the plastic cover.
The on/off button does protrude but you have to push pretty firmly to turn the light on. I never had issues with it inadvertently turning on/off when I had it in the console.. Actually, I like the switch as it is.. 8-)
Yes, very bright.... it's not a harsh light either. Also, battery life is way long...
.
Haven't tried it, but don't they stay on if you leave the switch in accessory?I’d still like to know if there’s a way to make a light stay on
Checking....checking...Why yes, they do!Haven't tried it, but don't they stay on if you leave the switch in accessory?
Lol. Happy to help.Checking....checking...Why yes, they do!
I feel like a moron. No worries, though.
I’m getting used to it.
That brings up another question though: is there a significant load on batteries just by being on accessory, without anything on?
@Rhinebeck01 why dont you ever show or have pictures of your JL??@brazos
No, I did not take it as "snarky"...
In time the Tazer JL may do as you want...
Do take heed though,.... the JL will not handle extended interior lights on time, especially over a few day camping trip lets say.
Also, JL's interior lights, even if all on, suck at giving ample... terrific lighting at night... AND, of course... no engine compartment lighting.
One of the mentioned Cobb light mounted in the rear of the JL, lights up the back like you were at an athletic event at night and the field lights were on.. It'a a bright white, florescent type of light.. but yes, these are LED.
The COBB LED lights I mentioned are very good but there are many other offerings and some may be better. I just know that the one's I mentioned worked great. The black metal plates to stick up all over are easy to acquire and inexpensive.
