Installing The Front Camera and Roku (Follow)

Hey Folks,

I found an awesome front camera on Amazon for those that have the Tazer JL. I wanted something very invasive (it's a lease) and something that looks factory. This is really hard of anyone has searched. Well voila, found this gem that comes with a button to adjust. Not bad for a $30 price tag.

Just got around to mounting it and I hooked up to my TV to see the quality. Not too bad on a 50" tv.

Follow this thread as I hope to have it finished by this Sunday.

To mount, you will need to file just a tiny bit, then use a 5/16 washer behind. I happened to have a black one. Its your preference, but I used one of the rubber washers to move the camera upward a bit.

Yup, got the cable for the camera and the av input. I will be installing a Roku as well while the radio is out.

In your defense, this is just an extension cable. You will need the input cables from Tazer.

I was wondering about the Audio myself. In my 2011 RAM I had an Apple TV that I internally modified that took 12VDC and lowered it to 3.3VDC. Of course that was an aftermarket radio I installed as well. My new 2017 2500 RAM has the 8.4 uConnect, as does my JL and I'd like to install one in each vehicle, but was unsure of the audio. I am thinking the AUX input may work if you switch it to that input before switching the Video..

How many Video inputs does the Tazer afford you?

The Tazer av cable allows for a CD input (Audio) and additional video input besides the camera. You turn it to CD mkde for audio, then double tap mute to enable video. I am using a 12v to USB converter for the power that will be wired to the ignition input from the aux trailer harness under the passenger footwell.

How do you plan on getting audio into the Uconnect?

No, it doesn't. It's just a Cargo Cam video input, no audio.

They have it, I ordered it. I wouldn't be going through all this for nothing.

One camera, one video, and audio. Will need to enable CD input in the Tazer menu.
