I've never been a fan of the satin black grill on the JL, it's not my favorite look. But my mind may be changing.

My wife got a White 2024 Rubicon 4xe a couple months ago and it came with the satin black grill. Up close it really doesn't look that bad, and I really like the new grill design for 2024. So she's had it for a couple months and hasn't washed it yet. It wasn't super dirty, but the front was covered in dead bugs.

I've had mine covered with bugs from long road trips, or driving a lot at dusk, and I always wash it right away. The longer you drive with a bug covered front end, the bugs seem to just get baked on and they are impossible to get off.

When I was driving to the car wash I was wondering how long it was going to take to get all the bugs off. But with the satin black grill they just came right off. And if there is anthing that didn't come off all the way it is hidden by the darkness. I may just have to get a satin black grill for myself.

Will a 2024 grill install on an 18-23 with no modifications? Are there any differeneces in how they mount to the body?

Directly mounts in the same location. Several YouTube videos that show the swap. Do it!

I’ve also been wondering this. I live in Florida and bugs are constantly being caked to my front end. I wash my Jeep a lot just because of the bugs and honestly, dirt doesn’t bother me, but I know what the guts of a bug can do to paint so it is a constant worry. I’d love to know how the satin grill handles love bugs as these little things are the pinnacle of destruction.

My wifes had two months of bugs caked on hers. I was not looking forward to getting them off. But the high pressure wand at the manual car wash took them right off. With mine (white 2021) it would have taken me 10 minutes longer and there still would have been remnants that I wouldn't have been able to get off.

We are heading into fall now so bugs shouldn't be an issue until next spring. I'll probably wait until then to replace mine. I have other projects that need attention first.

That sounds good. I like that it’s not painted and it is plastic so if I want to just wipe it with a wet cloth it won’t scratch. I think I’m going to look for the 2023 grill but Satin as I like the style.
