Hope some one can answer a question for me. Installing 6db Midland antenna and cable but can't find a good spot to access the cabin from engine. This grey plug (driver side) looks like it should work as well as the black rubber above it? Can you drill a hole to pull wire through that plug or through rubber area?

Yeah, that plug will pop right out. You can drill and grommet the plug or however you want to pass your cable. I picked up a rubber boot grommet for that same hole when in installed my gmrs radio.

I think I will drill a hole through it and then caulk to seal it.

leave a drip loop in the engine bay, if you don't water will come in your hole. It was hard to get a good calk job in there.

I second the use of a grommet. Although your wires won't rub against the metal firewall and short (that plug is like 2 inches across, that'd be a big ass wire), it will still rub on the plastic and cut threw the shield eventually. I just posted this in my audio build thread

Thats 1/0 wire going through that plug, it's a pretty sizeable wire. I then went to advance auto and grabbed a Dorman 5/8 inch rubber grommet, and I couldn't ask for a better seal. Your wire will be much smaller, but you should easily be able to source a grommet that fits locally for a buck or two.
