Jeep: 2-door Rubicon, Hydro Blue (ie, the best color)
Primary Use: Daily driving and shows, parades (light shows, festivities)
Current Mods: 35" Toyos, nothing else suspension-related
Goal: "Just a little bit" of lift

Long story short, my wife loves using her Jeep for light shows, parades, and festive things like that. I recently finished installing a set of rock lights under her body tub and in each wheel well. And as you can imagine, the rock lights aren't too far from the 35" tires with no lift, so they really don't have much room to shine. Our plan was always to do some kind of lift kit, but no specific amount necessarily - just a little extra couple inches to help the light spread better.

We've had a Quadratec lift sitting in the garage waiting to be installed for months, and we were good with that plan whenever we got around to it. Per the advice of another local Jeeper mechanic friend, I also bought a set of Mopar LCAs to correct the caster angle after the lift was installed.

But wait, there's more!

So today, a buddy who just got his 23 JLUR a couple months ago informed me that he has his entire XR suspension takeoff if I want it. Springs, shocks, all eight control arms. I believe he said the only thing he is still using is the track bar (which probably wouldn't need to be changed any way unless there's something I'm unaware of about it).

So now I theoretically have the option to mix and match any of the following...
  1. Quadratec lift
  2. Mopar LCAs
  3. XR suspension (minus track bar)
In my head, I'm leaning more towards just going with the XR suspension and selling the Quadratec lift and extra LCAs. If I can achieve a lift without using spacers and compensating brackets, I guess I would rather do so. But, I know a suspension intended for a 4-door vehicle with a 6-cylinder engine in it is going to lift a 2-door with a 4-banger in it quite a bit, so I'm wondering if caster angle would end up re-entering the equation as an issue if I didn't have longer control arms.

Anyway, you get the idea. Need to see pretty lights. Best option for lift with least amount of headache.

I vote to keep it original Jeep. It sounds like the main focus is lift and daily driver. The original jlur is fairly serious off roader and the 4 door springs on your 2dr should give a little higher lift due to weight difference. Bonus, I’m not positive but I think the LCA’s should give you more castor, a good thing.

The Mopar LCAs are a smidge longer than the current ones, so that will help. I want to see if the XR ones are any different, but I’ll be taking one of them for sure.

The XR arms are the same as stock.

Assuming you have the QT with extensions, I’d probably:

1. Either the spacers or XR springs
2. Mopar LCAs
3. QT bump extensions
4. XR Shocks
5. XR sway links
