I am just gonna say it, the advanced safety group should really just be called the "Texting While Driving" or "Distracted Driver" group.

Flame away, but anyone who needs this, doesn't need to be on the road. The thought of putting your family's safety in the hands of the same engineers that couldn't figure out back up lines should scare the dookie out of everyone.
Most of us have tried the "just pay attention" safety strategy and have failed due to the fact that we are human. To misquote the Bible: let the person whose attention has never lapsed throw the first stone. And...if you pick up that stone be aware of that glass house right behind you. :)

I suspect that all of us had our attention lapse, if only momentarily, the very last time we drove.

I only read the initial post, so if someone else has this thought, I apologize:

OP: if I'm not mistaken, the bumper of which you speak (hard rock) is an aftermarket bumper: what, EXACTLY does this have to do with the factory steel bumper option?

I was against the active safety systems, but the lease I am in it came standard so 🤷‍♂️. It's not a terrible system once you understand how it operates and adjust the sensitivity to match your driving style. I have had far fewer braking incidences than what people who have never driven with the systems are claiming, but their ignorance shows to be more prevalent in the forums. Living in a college town with a lot of younger and less attentive drivers, the system has been a boon. (The traffic crews use their electric signs to remind everyone to not text and drive instead of about road work.) I'm still pretty young and sharp at driving, but it's reacted faster in those instances where someone cuts me off from three lanes over and slams their brakes to turn into Target or star sucks.

I have the option ordered in my '22 diesel and am sure it will operate a little differently than my current version, but I'll still use it I'm sure. It'll definitely come in handy when I start teaching my kid to drive.

The Hard Rock was the name of the top-of-the-line JK Rubicon that came loaded (options-wise) from the factory. The steel bumpers are part of the factory package, and are virtually identical to the JL steel factory bumper option.

You may be thinking of "Rock Hard" - an aftermarket Jeep accessories vendor. [Sounds more like a porn site.] https://www.rockhard4x4.com/

After reading first post I was confused too but jks had a hard rock edition which came with steel bumpers so I’m assuming this is what they mean by stock hard rock bumper as far as I know hard rock 4x4 doesn’t have plastic trim bezels

I just ordered mine and intentionally left that off to make modifying easier. I have that on my wife’s Tahoe and can take it or leave it.

This is my suspicion as well.
It happens in the diesel threads as well. They've never owned or driven one but all come out of the wood work to say how sketchy or terrible they are or that the "gubment" is going to regulate them into oblivion so why bother.

What I'm calling bezels are the plastic parts around the fog lights.

Agreed, but its a crutch, and because we are human, people will use it (whether they admit it or not).

People are much more careful when they operate with out a net.....when its my family on the other end of your bumper, I want you on your game (not playing one on your phone).

I haven’t had it happen on my Wrangler yet (4 months) but like an early post my GC gets confused by turn lanes especially the short or curb hugging ones and too frequently slams on the brakes. The other side of the story is it slammed on the brakes when backing out of a parking space blindly and some genius thought the parking lot was Interstate 5. Love—Hate, good with bad, but turn lanes make me break out in a sweat.

So...it's been two years since I posted this. I've now had both safety packages on my new Jeep for 18 months, and like them. The Blind Spot Monitoring and Cross-Traffic (backup) are especially efficient.

In my experience, the false positives for the Front Collision Warning are non-existent. It works flawlessly. I'm not sure if the members posting skepticism are speaking from actual personal experience, or simply speculating.

IMO these two options are worth their weight in gold. Basically they are insurance for your family's safety. I find it odd that there is a mad rush to buy extended warranty insurance to protect your pocket book, but owners stop short of buying a safety feature to protect their lives.
I love the blind spot and cross traffic monitoring, although I don’t have the active braking system. Does it include lane assist in the Wrangler?

As Bryce pointed out, no lane keeping assist. As much of an advocate I am of safety systems, lane keeping assist seems to be somewhat intrusive on other vehicles, so I'm not disappointed by its absence.

Although....if it keeps drivers from constantly keeping two wheels in the break-down lane, and flinging gravel all over me, I'm supportive.
